6 Rack installation tolerances
Racks constructed using this manual require Grade 1, tolerances for unit load handling
equipment of standard types of forklift trucks, e.g. reach trucks, counterbalance trucks, and
pedestrian operated trucks. Racks must be built to these tolerances.
AS 4084 – GRADE 1 TOLERANCES
Horizontal Tolerances
Reference Description Tolerance
A Maximum variation in individual bays. ± 3.0mm
Total cumulative deviation in racking length ± 30mm
(nA = total deviation, where n is the number of bays)
B Maximum out of plumb upright perpendicular to the plane of the upright h /500
frame.
C Rack depth (single or multiple frames). ± 5.0mm
D String depth. ± 5.0mm
E Rail positioning with regard to the pallet rack at the top of the upright frames. ± 5.0mm
F Maximum imperfection of upright with regard to the theoretical longitudinal axes h /1000
x or y
G Maximum out of plumb of upright in the plane of the upright frame. h /500
Vertical Tolerances
* H Distance between top of base plate and lowest beam level ± 3.0mm
J Maximum deviation of beam level or portal level with regard to the lowest beam level. ± hi /500
S Maximum deviation of vertical beam spacing ± 5.0mm
Note: * Denotes Eonmetall recommendation
h Is the distance to the topmost level and hi is the distance to beam level i
These tolerances are measured prior to loading.
