n-site visits with legislative representa-
tives are an integral component in sharing
the positive story of propane to influence
policy makers to support our industry. The
most effective visits are those that affect all the sens-
es, where representatives can touch, feel, and/or hear
personal stories from those who work in the propane
industry each and every day. This provides a more
tangible and specific background that representatives
are more likely to be receptive towards. Representa-
tives consider visits to local facilities, more than any
other source of information, to be the most valuable
way to understand constituent views and opinions. For
citizens, such visits are among the most effective ways
they can interact with their representatives, build rela-
tionships with them, and influence them.
On Thursday, May 4th, Blossman Gas hosted
Congressman Jerry Carl for an on-site tour of their
office and bulk plant facility in Mobile, Alabama. Chad

ducted the tour for the 1st Congressional District’s
representative. Congressman Carl currently serves on
the House Appropriations Committee and the House
Committee on Natural Resources. Some of the Con-
gressman's issues of importance include the economy,
energy, and veterans.
The tour began with Mr. Chavers and Mr. Krebs
showing Rep. Carl around their retail showroom and in-
troducing him to their staff members. They shared the
unique history of this family-owned propane business
and all of the services they offer and solutions they
offer to their value customers. They introduced us to
Blossman's core values while sharing the positive story
of propane and providing Rep. Carl with an informal
introduction to the propane industry. Later in the tour,
Rep. Carl was shown around the storage facility where
they discussed autogas and further demonstrated the
versatility of propane in the ever changing energy seg-
ment. Chad and Gabe detailed propane's benefits and
the future of the industry with several new features
and developments in their autogas program.■
