When the topic of disaster management was discussed, there was a question that how The
WFB decides the organizations they send the money to. After this discussion, we think that
The WFB should continue to find the ways to decide the reliable organizations.

Action or Implementation

Humanitarian Assistance Procedure by Col. Sudath Madugalle
When disaster occurs:

Action
1. Regional Centre must inform the Humanitarian Committee and The WFB Headquarters
regarding the disaster as per the attached format

2. Humanitarian Committee Chairperson recommends the Request to The WFB
Headquarters
3. The WFB Headquarters approves the Request

4. In the meantime, The WFB launches an appeal for Disaster Relief Activity
5. After approval by The WFB Headquarters, Humanitarian Committee would discuss
with Regional Centre and prepare an Action Plan and inform The WFB Headquarters.

6. The WFB Headquarters transfers funds or items to the Regional Centre and HQ will
inform Humanitarian Centre.
7. Whenever possible, The WFB Headquarters or Humanitarian Committee member will
participate in the Distribution

8. After the Distribution, Regional Centre will send the Completion Report photos to
The WFB Headquarters and photo copies to Humanitarian Committee Chairperson

At the end, it was overall an excellent presentation. It gave us lots of new information and
deepened our understanding on various topics. Due to the lack of time, we did not have enough
time for discussion. But we can continue to share our thoughts on this topic of humanity and
disaster management through email. There will be a Facebook page created for everyone to
exchange the ideas just like Regional Center activities.
