W The World Fellowship of Buddhist Youth (WFBY) is an
international network created to broaden and deepen
understanding of Buddhism among young people, the
generation of the future. At the 10 General Conference of

F The World Fellowship of Buddhists (The WFB), established in
B.E. 2493 (1950) mainly through the efforts of Thailand and
Japan, a proposal made by Sri Lanka was adopted which led
to the founding of WFBY in May B.E. 2515 (1972). WFBY has
B grown to include as members 16 countries and 42 Buddhist
groups, which makes it the world’s largest international
Buddhist youth organization.
Through activities such as exchange programs and
Y leadership training courses, WFBY promotes exchanges
among Buddhist youth around the world and nurtures
human development in accordance with Buddhist precepts.
WFBY also implements programs targeting adults involved
in youth leadership.
The All Japan Young Buddhist Association (JYBA) is a
WFBY member. As Japan’s only regional center, JYBA is active
in deepening ties with Buddhist youth in other countries to
contribute to world peace and spread Buddhist teachings.
JYBA’s head serves as deputy president and as an executive
board member of WFBY.
