• International Conference ‘Buddhism in Contemporary Times: Relevance for Peace,
Non-Violence and Social Harmony’ by International Centre for Buddhist Studies,
Ramdaspeth Nagpur. How can we improve the quality of Buddhist courses in India?
This can be done through collaboration. Nagpur University of India is the first
university that will try this collaboration with the WBU.
• ‘Casting Soil to Merit Project’. Phra has invited Buddha Statue Artists from a Thai
university to teach the death-row inmates in Thailand to cast Buddha statues. Their
work is very high quality after only 3 months. 42 Buddha images were offered and
accepted across Nepal.
• ‘Mind Management Project’ in a women’s prison in Thailand for foreign women. 100
women from 30 countries applied, mostly from Christian and Muslim backgrounds.
• ‘World Happiness Council’. The WBU led the World Happiness Think Tank.
• The WBU leads the business world with sustainable brands ‘BBB – Business needs
Buddhism to Balance’
General Comments
Mr. Padma Joyti said he is planning to hold a conference in Nepal in B.E. 2562 (2019) on
Sustainability Development Goals. He is pleased to hear about the conference the WBU will
be holding on this topic in December and is looking forward to incorporating some of that
learning in their conference.
