It is a great pleasure for me to offer my sincerest congratulations

to The World Fellowship of Buddhists for organizing the General Conference

once again, this time in Narita, Japan.

As a devout follower of the Lord Buddha and having this first
opportunity to address a message to this august Conference, I wish to pay

the highest tribute to you all, as leaders and representatives of Buddhists

throughout the world, for the excellent work you perform so tirelessly.

Disseminating the Lord Buddha’s teachings, giving guidance and support to
Buddhists in the practice of Dhamma and in keeping to the path of truth,

will be rewarded with well-being and tranquility - - not only for the benefit

of each individual but also of our societies, countries and the world at large.

Indeed, we might well be pleased with our past endeavours and performance,
we should strive at the same time to build on previous achievements in order

to preserve and sustain Buddhism. It is thus that peace and tranquility would

come upon an ever increasing number of our fellow men.

I should also like to extend to all here present my best wishes for

Buddhists. May the Conference attain its intended goals and achieve all its

objectives.
