Discussion Materials
Below are the general membership guidelines. The board will decide each application starting with
these general guidelines. A prospective network member will not be excluded for not meeting a
specific guideline, if in the evaluation the network’s history, growth, membership, activities,
enthusiasm, and other factors indicate that it will be an active contributor in reaching AILFN’s
strategic objectives.
1. General Membership Guidelines
Global
1. Membership: 3,000 attorneys
2. More than 40 members in 20 countries outside of region
3. At least one professional staff member
4. Established for more than 5 years
5. A minimum of 3 published meetings per year with a program
6. Website is contains contacts and governing information
7. Membership admission policies and review policy
8. Willing to provide estimated cumulative revenues and other statistics on their
network
Regional
1. Membership: 300 attorneys
2. Covers 10 countries, states or provinces
3. Staff support
4. Established for more than 5 years
5. A minimum of 2 published meetings per year with a program
6. Website has with contacts and governing information
7. Admission policies and membership review policy
8. Willing to provide estimated cumulative revenues and other fact on their network
2. Governance – General
AILFN is a Delaware non-share corporation owned by all members of AILFN. It is not owned
by the founders or by consultants.
1. The association will be governed according to the by-laws (Section IV, page 24.)
2. The number of directors would range from 6 to a maximum of 16 as set out in the
draft by-laws.
3. Initial directors would have a staggered term with eventually directors each
serving four years.
