1. Belle Epoque:
“Les Passages”
The Belle Epoque is an economic booming period starting from the end
of the Franco-German war (1871) to the star of WWI (1914), filled with
innovations, explosion of arts, World Fairs and the peak of the Colonial
empire. This itinerary will walk you through the Parisian “Passages”
built during this period of time, that were the first mall ever. Built
between buildings, these covered pedestrian alleys were and still are
full of shops and restaurants. Out of more than 150, only about 25
survived and still remain the witness of the Belle Epoque through
unique architectural details.
