English is an international language, which is why most people around the world are using the
language in their daily routine.
Next, learning English can help develop life skills. According to Mahu (2012), learning
English can improve learning skills and helps develop life skills through listening, reading and
writing. The learning skills will help us to improve studying through a language such as general
reading and mental skills. Learning English as a foreign language has useful benefits to cognitive
capabilities such as creativity, problem-solving and reasoning, if studied from a young age
(Mahu,2012). Learning a foreign language will be a better adaptation to deal with a new
environment and situation. Learning English also can improve communication skills and it helps
to communicate with people such as family, friends, teachers and others. It can be concluded that
learning English as foreign language will give the important life skills to gain more knowledge.
In addition, the benefit of learning English is it can increase understanding of one’s own
culture. Mahu (2012) indicates that learning English and its culture will help and be able to see our
own culture with other assumptions and perspectives. It is because it can improve our vocabulary
and increase our level of literacy all through learning English. Learning English allows us to
appreciate the culture and its context of a country because it can improve our understanding. We
can get a golden opportunity of stepping outside the boundary to gain more knowledge for the rest
of our life if we study English. According to Mahu (2012), the cultures will give us new experience
and personal development through study English as it will help in shaping our identity and increase
our confidence levels. All in all, by understanding other cultures through learning English we are
able to bridge the gap between cultures, which will be a powerful tool in today’s modern world.
As the world nowadays uses English as the main language in communication, there would
be chances for anyone who managed to learn it from a young age. According to Converse
International School of Language (2019), learning English could boost our potential of
employment. Since English language has been spoken throughout the entire world, most of the job
opportunities would love it if their employees could master the language. It is because the
employers want them to communicate with their clients in English, especially when their clients
