My Experience EL-KANEMI: Creamy Tomato Pasta with Lemon
Garlic Chicken
n the 11th, 18th, and 19th of May, the board- ODUDUWA: Fried Rice & Chicken
ing hostels participated in the 2024 Mas-
O terchef competition. It was a competitive DANFODIO: Potato Skewer with Garlic Spiced
experience that enhanced our cookery skills.
Chicken and Chilli Mayo Sauce
Each hostel chose its dish for the first two rounds. OBI: Potato Wedges And Mongolian Beef Sauce
Obi cooked party jollof rice with fried chicken for
round 1 and macaroni and meatballs for round
2. For round 3, we were to make potato torna-
do twisters with spicy garlic chicken, but Mrs. A
introduced a twist. Each hostel had to cook an-
other hostel’s dish. We got El-kanemi’s potato
wedges with Mongolian beef sauce. Danfodio
cooked our meal, Oduduwa cooked Danfodio’s,
and El-kanemi cooked Oduduwa’s.
El-kanemi won the first round, Danfodio won
the second, and Oduduwa won the last round.
Despite not winning a round, our strong perfor-
mance in round 3 helped us finish above Dan-
fodio in the final standings. El-kanemi emerged
as the champions, narrowly staying ahead of
Oduduwa after a perfect score by the green
hostel.
The 2023/24 Masterchef competition was an
enjoyable experience. We all learned more
about cookery and left with full bellies and big
smiles. I have one more Masterchef to go be-
fore I graduate, and I will do my best to bring the

gold to Obi Hostel, which hasn’t won yet. Let’s
