HERE ARE 10 DID YOU KNOW FACTS ABOUT OLUMO
1. Olumo Rock is over 200 years old.
2. It stands at about 137 metres above sea level.
3. It served as a natural fortress for the Egba people during
inter-tribal wars.
4. Some families lived inside the rock for decades during the
1800s.
5. There are ancient shrines inside the rock still used today.
6. The name “Olumo” means “God moulded this”.
7. The rock has natural tunnels, caves, and hideouts.
8. Climbing routes include both natural paths and modern stairs.
9. From the top, you can see major landmarks across Abeokuta.
10. The famous Pansheke tree grows near the rock, known for the
rattling sound of its seeds.
