ZOOLOGICAL
GARDENS
We observed pelicans with pouches large
enough to hold several fish, marabou
storks that regulate temperature with
their throat sacs, and Nile crocodiles
that rely on perfect camouflage. Among
the reptiles, the African python, monitor
lizards, cobras and softshell turtles stood
out with their unusual adaptations.
The primate section was one of the highlights.
We encountered green monkeys, mona
monkeys, mangabeys and the powerful
Anubis baboon. The gorilla gave us an
unforgettable moment by beating its chest
and throwing twigs in a display of dominance.
In the afternoon, we headed to Agodi
Gardens for cycling, horseback riding and
paintball. We also learned about important
trees such as eucalyptus, black afara and
oil palm. It was a day filled with learning
and adventure from start to finish.
