Theme 5:
Establish a Catalog of IT Services and Timely Provision of Services, Clarifying
Roles and Central IT
Who are the main leads and what do they need to do?
There is a misunderstanding at school about the types of information technology services that are
required, who is responsible for providing them, and how they will be funded. There is no standardised
or defined procedure for supplying and deprovisioning services. Due to the school's lack of a current
central inventory of data, user access, and assets, thereby putting information security at greater risk.
Throughout the organisation, documentation is inconsistent and compartmentalised. Failure to
identify, approve, and assign ownership of key assets impairs an organization's capacity to secure data
and respond to information security breaches swiftly and effectively.
Recommendation Summary
● Establish systems, workflow processes, authentication, and service authorization infrastructure to
automate the timely provision and removal of services.
● Establish a catalogue of IT services, define how best to provide the services, and clarify the roles of
individual organizations and central IT in providing such services.
● The school will provide many of these services through automated workflows that require little or no
manual intervention.
Key Benefits to the school
● Enhances end users' and schools' access to high-quality services depending on the end user's
particular role(s) and the organization's access requirements.
● Provides a simple electronic way of purchasing and cancelling IT and other educational services.
● Establishes the infrastructure necessary to support electronic processes and the reduction of
paper.
● Enhances the efficiency of service-provider vendors and enables the repurposing of scarce
resources where they are needed.
● Enhances security by preventing unauthorised access to resources, sensitive services, and
information.
