How Anxiety Might Show Up
Every young person experiences anxiety
differently, but warning signs include:
• Frequent headaches, stomach aches,
or sleep difficulties.
• Avoiding school, lessons, or social
activities.
• Sudden mood changes — irritability,
withdrawal, or anger.
• Physical signs such as sweating, shaking,
or breathlessness.
• Panic attacks, which can feel frightening
but are not life-threatening.
How we can help together
• Open conversations: Encourage honest
discussions about feelings without
judgment.
• Small steps: Break challenges into
manageable goals, such as attending
part of the day or speaking in a small
group.
• Healthy strategies: Breathing exercises,
relaxation, journaling, and consistent
routines can reduce anxiety.
• Partnership: When parents, students, and
staff work together, we can respond early
and effectively.
Our commitment
At Regent, we treat anxiety as an important safeguarding issue. If your child is showing
signs of anxiety, please reach out to the pastoral or safeguarding team. Together, we
can help our young people feel supported, resilient, and ready to thrive.
