EDITION 09/25 BÖLLINGHAUS HIGHLIGHTS
ESG UPDATE
In the last months, an acronym has been appearing
increasingly in the Böllinghaus Steel newsletters and
social media posts: ESG.
ESG stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance.
These three pillars serve as a way to evaluate how a company behaves in the
face of responsibilities that go beyond profit.
E - Environmental: refers to how a company treats the environment.
For example, does it reduce pollutant emissions? Does it manage waste
disposal?
S - Social: addresses how the company treats people and communities.
This includes employee well-being, diversity, respect for human rights,
and impact on society.
G - Governance: refers to how the company is managed. This includes
ethics, transparency, anti-corruption, and good management practices.
ESG is a method to measure whether companies are not only focused on
profit, but also want to contribute to a better world. For customers, this
means they can choose more responsible suppliers. For companies, it is a
challenge – and at the same time an opportunity to show that financial
success can go hand in hand with positive impacts.
Our ESG strategy remains in full progress. Priorities for first concrete steps
have been set, and plans are under construction. To learn the best practice in
the daily business from a distributor, Daniel Mende has visited the
Headquarter of Damstahl, who is really a pioneer on Sustainability. Key
Learnings and concrete ideas have been exchanged to develop this matter
together. The reality even after the successful participation of Daniel on the
3 Day TÜV Training for Sustainability Management based on the ISO 26000
shows that we are right on track and new actions will push us fast forward.
