• Visitors who have been exposed to chickenpox, measles, mumps, or pertussis (whooping cough) may not visit the hospital until they have consulted with their primary care provider to determine whether they are susceptible to the infection. If they are susceptible, they may not visit the hospital for three weeks following their last exposure.
• If there is a question about whether a person is allowed to visit, the hospital Infection Control practitioner
will be consulted.
• Care partners and
visitors must WASH
HANDS and wear
personal protective equipment when visiting, as determined by the established infection control policy.
• Only the patient may sit or lie in the hospital bed.
• For general sanitation and infection control reasons, we recommend that visitors not sleep on the  oor
in waiting areas or
visitor lounges.

There is an intercom
system in your room
used for direct voice

Extending from the intercom is a pillow speaker that can be clipped to your bed for convenience. In addition, each nurse carries a phone and will write
his or her four-digit number on your white board each shift. You may call
the nurse directly by dialing the four numbers on the phone in your room. To call the nurses’ station, press the button marked “NURSE” and a sta  member will respond via the intercom. When the nursing sta  member answers, please make your request in a normal
speaking voice. Some beds have the nurse call button built into the side rail. Please clarify with your nurse as to which nurse call system you have. TELEPHONE
Telephones are provided in all patient rooms. Local calls are free and patients have restricted access to long distance calls within the United States for emergency purposes only. Contact your nurse or Patient Relations if needed. Please note that there is no international long-distance access from patient rooms.
YOUR ROOM
Your room is designed to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
If you would like to adjust the temperature, a thermostat is located on the wall for your comfort control. If you need assistance, call the care
line at ext. 8466.
Your bed is equipped with an electric control enabling you to raise or lower
contact with the nurses’ station.
