as PSYC 610/COUN 611. Also, they may include any of the Adlerian course
            options.

[***The Practicum (200 hrs.) and the two Internships (400 hrs. each) require
an orientation the semester prior to enrolling in the class]. Practicum must be
completed before taking the CPCE, that is, the comprehensive exam.
Internship II and Seminar can only be taken AFTER passing the comprehensive
            exam.

            1. The initial course taken by all students is COUN 502 Principles and
Philosophy of Counseling. There are two other courses that students may
choose to take concurrently with this introductory course. They are: COUN 633
Multicultural Counseling; EDUC 507 Human Growth and Development.

            2.  At level II, students may enroll in COUN 734 Counseling Theory and Practice;
COUN 608 Career Counseling; COUN 731 Group Counseling or COUN 780 Legal
and Ethical Issues. At the end of level II and the completion of 21 hours, students
are required to meet with their advisor to insure they have met all Level I and
Level II requirements to then take Level 3 courses. At the end of Level 4, students
can then take Practicum after completion of other Level 4 courses and/or in
            combinations with Level 4 courses.

After the completion of twelve (12 to a maximum of 18) hours in the
program, students are required to make application for Advancement to
Candidacy. The Counseling faculty at this point reviews each application.
If students have a 3.25 grade point average and are recommended by at
least two members of the full-time faculty, they are advanced to candidacy
            in the degree program.

The Comprehensive Examination is designed to assess students’ mastery
of the program objectives. For academic years Fall 2016 to Spring 2019,
counseling department graduate students are allowed to take the CPCE a
maximum of three (3) times. After that time, starting in Fall 2019,
Graduate School policy requires entering students to take the CPCE a
            maximum of two (2) times.
