3. At level IV, students may enroll in one or more of the following courses:
COUN 762 Drug & Alcohol Counseling, COUN 732 Family Counseling, MHCO 744
Psychodynamics of Psychopathology (DSM 5) and then finally MHCO 836
Practicum in Mental Health Counseling.
4. At level IV, students may enroll in MHCO 744 Psychodynamics of
Psychopathology [DSM5] or, if in the Adlerian track, PSYC 714 Clinical
Assessment in Counseling and Psychotherapy [DSM 5]; and COUN 610 Appraisal,
Assessment, & Evaluation, and MHCO 775 Psychopharmacology. Electives
choices available include such courses as PSYC 810 Psychometric Testing I
(Intelligence Testing), PSYC 793 Art Therapy for Children, PSYC 794 Art Therapy
for Adults, PSYC 737 Marital Counseling and such courses such as Adlerian
Theory & Practice, and Life Style Assessment.
The Comprehensive Examination may be taken during enrollment in Level
IV or V courses after completion of Practicum in Mental Health Counseling
(200 hrs.). However, the Comprehensive Examination must be passed
prior to enrollment in Internship II and Seminar.
5. At Level V, students may enroll in the courses listed. At Level V & VI,
students, after passing the CPCE, may complete their program with MHCO 861
Seminar in Mental Health Counseling and their last elective. Students must also
complete their two internship, MHCO 858 Internship I in Mental Health
Counseling (400 hrs.) in Level V and final internship, MHCO 806 Internship II in
Mental Health Counseling (400) in Level VI.
If a student has not completed the internship experience during the spring
semester, he/she must enroll in a one (1) credit hour independent study course
(MHCO 801) to be completed by the end of the summer session.
