Page 8 - THE SCAM OF RICHES
P. 8
I have been guilty of most of these forms of scamming and self-robbery at one time
or the other. But after that life changing seminar, it was like I woke up and became
acutely conscious of what I was doing with my money.
It shows why lottery winners are never able to become independently wealthy. They
immediately begin to spend and spend and splash money all over the town. They
make so much noise about the money they won that all their friends and family from
way back when come crawling out of the woodworks to beg for their own share. And
so, they begin to feel like rich kings and generously dole out huge sums to all that
ask…after all, I’m a millionaire, or so they think.
They spend on expensive food, luxury travel packages to exotic lands abroad, wild
parties, designer clothing, state of the art automobiles, partners and toys. And they
spend without mercy. They spend until the money finishes and they go into debt
because they have developed a very large appetite and high taste.
And the reason why they spend so much is because they believe that the sign of
wealth is a show of luxury and conspicuous consumption.
That is what the poor believe.
Indiscriminate spending is not a sign of wealth; it is evidence of low self-esteem, poor
judgment and lack of vision for the future.
