The Human Resource Development
                                                                            Orientation Handbook and Research Guide

Is there a general guide about who I can talk to on campus?

Phone numbers can be found online, but we have also included a general list of contact numbers at
the front of this Handbook for those offices that we believe would be beneficial on your educational
               journey.

Where can I find background information on the professors in the program?

Basic information about all professors is listed in the Graduate Catalog, the New HRD Student
Orientation Handbook, or online under the Directory.

Where can you find resources to help with writing/completing your thesis?

HURD 881 Research Advisement is available to students who need assistance with their thesis.
Additionally, the Writing Center is available to help with writing workshops, tutoring, and locating
an editor. They can be reached at (301) 860-3720 or at writingcenter@bowiestate.edu.

Are there other professional organizations that I may need to know or become affiliated with?

A list of professional organizations that would benefit an HRD professional or student is listed in
the section on Professional Organizations of this Handbook. We recommend you start with BSU’s
Human Resource Development Society – EVOLVE, which is outlined in the Professional
               Organizations section as well.

When can you apply to be a candidate for graduation?

You should submit your Application for Graduation at the beginning of the Fall semester of the
academic year in which you plan to graduate once you have completed 12 – 15 credit hours in the
program and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.25. You must also have Advanced to
Candidacy. Consult with your advisor for additional questions.
