The Human Resource Development
                                                                            Orientation Handbook and Research Guide

Is there a placement service after graduation?

The Center for Career and Leadership Development at BSU provides a place to register for
interviews and placement assistance. HRD faculty, current students, alumni and professional
associations are your best ways to learn about jobs and opportunities.

Is there a preferred type of educational preparation or work experience to succeed in the HRD
               program?

We have students from all levels of business, health care, government, non-profits, and education,
as well as with virtually every type of undergraduate degree. Some of the students already have
master's degrees in other fields. Motivation, enthusiasm, and a desire to learn are perhaps the key
elements in successfully completing the program.

What types of activities do you actually do in class--the amount of time sitting would be difficult
               if it's all lecture?

It would also be difficult for the faculty if it were all lecture! Each course is a combination of short
lectures, group activities, discussion, presentations, case studies, exercises, etc.

Can I apply for either Spring or Fall admission?

Applications are accepted in the Spring, Summer, and Fall. Contact the Admissions Office for the
               exact deadlines.

If I am not admitted can I be considered for another term?

You can register as a non-degree seeking student. However, speak to a member of the School of
Continuing Education and Graduate Studies to determine your options. They will vary depending
on why you were not accepted.

How do I get an advisor?

Your advisor is assigned to you at the time of your acceptance into the HRD Program and their name
and contact information is included in your acceptance letter.

Are there any organizations that can help me with my course work?

A writing lab is also available and it is located in the Martin Luther King building on the second
floor. You may speak to your instructor or advisor, but your classmates may be a great resource
since they are on the same path to success.
