Orientation Handbook and Research Guide
Our tutors can assist you through all stages of the writing process with any type of writing
task. Whether you are concerned with organization, development, formatting, documentation style
or other conventions, we can help. Our tutors, however, will not edit or revise your documents;
you are ultimately responsible for your own writing.
What We Offer:

• Understand writing assignments
• Overcome writing challenges
• Develop and research essay topics
• Document research in MLA and APA styles
• Become more confident and effective writers
Tutoring Sessions:
Tutoring sessions are by appointment and last up to 50 minutes. Please, come prepared and expect
to work during your session. Tutoring sessions will only be as successful as the amount of work
you put into them.

The BSU Writing Lab is located in the Martin Luther King building, Room 204. You can also hire
a skilled editor to edit your papers/thesis. Talk to the Writing Center or your advisor for a point of
contact for finding an editor.

– Thursday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM and Fridays, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
Career, CO-OP and International Services
BSU offers programs and services in career and cooperative education services. The office is in the
Student Centre, room 3007. You may also contact them at (301) 860-3825.
Career services include career fairs and information on various graduate programs including
admission procedures, assistantships and fellowships. Workshops are available on topics including
preparing for a career fair, resume writing, interview techniques, marketing yourself, business
etiquette and professionalism, salary negotiation, starting your own business, etc. In addition, they
will critique your resume.
