COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
1. Students must attend each session and actively participate in class discussions. Prompt and
regular attendance in class sessions is essential if the student is to achieve the highest benefit
from this introductory course. Irregular attendance detracts from the student’s learning and
prevents participation in the intellectual exchanges that occur among the students and faculty.
Students are expected to maintain proper class decorum, come to class on time, and remain in
class until dismissal.
2. Students must complete all individual and group assignments and adhere to the following
guidelines..
A. All assignments/paper submissions must be sent via Email (as an attachment) to the
Professor at xxxxxxxx@yahoo.com and xxxxxx@xxxx.xxx by 5:00 p.m. the day the
assignment/paper is due. Saved documents should begin with the student’s last name and
first initial followed by the title of the document. For example: DoeJane_Diversity in
Corporate America. Papers must be submitted in Word format and must be capable of being
opened and edited by the course Professor using Microsoft Word.
B. All submissions of draft papers for review by the course instructor must include page
numbers, the student’s first and last name, date of submission, and the course number and
title in the header section of every page (flushed to the right side of the document).
C. Assignments missed due to absences or tardiness cannot be made up, unless previous
arrangements have been made with the Professor. If you can provide documentation of an
unexcused absence, you will be allowed to make up assignments or examinations for full
credit.
a. Individual assignment:
i. Students must complete their individual assignments independently and properly cite
sources of research. Any student found cheating or copying another person’s work
will receive a grade of zero for that assignment. All materials submitted for this course
must be your own work and written for this course. The university considers
plagiarism a “form of academic dishonesty and proof of plagiarism may subject a
student to disciplinary action as outlined in the campus code of conduct.” Select a
topic from the list provided by the instructor and present a five minute oral
presentation (using PowerPoint) addressing key elements of the assigned topic.
Handouts, visuals, and creativity are strongly encouraged.
ii. Students must provide an advanced copy of their presentation to the professor 24 hours
prior to presenting and distribute copies of their presentation to the entire class the day
of their presentation.
iii. Students must complete and submit five (5) annotated bibliographies using only
scholarly research. A copy of the article used for the annotated bibliography must
be attached to each submission (please adhere to the requirements for paper
submissions in the above course requirements under #2a) in accordance with the
due dates outlined in the course schedule.
