b. Group assignment: Students will be assigned to groups that will select, plan, and present
a 30 minute presentation on a chapter or segment of the text. All group members are
expected to have an assigned part in the development and presentation of the material.
Other appropriate sources should also be used to expand the student’s understanding of
the topic/issue presented. Professionalism and creativity are strongly encouraged
through the use of videos, handouts, activities, etc. Presentations will be graded on the
quality of the written and oral information provided, effectiveness of the introduction and
closing, adherence to the time allotment(s), creativity, and overall group interaction and
synergy. Each group must also provide an advanced copy of their presentation to the
instructor 24 hours prior presenting and bring and distribute copies of their presentation
to the entire class on the day they present (please let the instructor know at least one week
in advance if you require assistance with printing materials for distribution).
c. Research paper (Final paper): Each student will select an HRD related topic that
addresses a current HRD issue, trend, or practice. Topics will be used to conduct a
literature review (all topics must be pre-approved by the instructor) for the final paper,
which will serve as the final exam The research paper must consist of no more than 5
pages (not including the cover page) and contain:
1. A cover page (in accordance with the APA style manual);
2. A brief introduction of the issue/topic;
3. Summary of the literature review to include the purpose, key issues addressed, and
primary findings;
4. Critique of how the literature review contributes to the field of HRD; and
5. Reason why you selected the topic, your thoughts on why the topic is relevant for
HRD Practitioners and/or how it can be explored further.
Important Note: All students should refer to the Publication Manual of the American

Psychological Association (6 ed.)., for form, style, and general writing principles in preparing
papers and all other written documentation submitted in this class. Grammatical errors,
misspelled words, and writing that do not express your thoughts in a clear and concise manner
will affect your grade.
