Demographic Characteristics

According to the 2017 Population Statistics the proportion of the elderly population
in Taipei is ranked 4th in the country, which is higher than the national average.
About 59 neighborhoods of them reached the “super senior society” standard set
by the United Nations World Health Organization, and about 395 Neighborhoods
reached that of the “aged society”. In addition to reflecting the condition of medical
resources in Taipei City, the importance of aging issues in a city is also revealed.

The young population ratio in Taipei ranked the sixth in the country. According
to the ratio of the elderly and the young population proportions, the districts with
highest ratio concentrate in those areas with higher developing density, such as
Zhongzheng, Da'an and Wanhua District. The planning and design of the future
park and green space in Taipei should pay more attention to the needs of elderly and
the young children. When a park is renewed or a new children's playground is setting
