Counterfeit Electronic
Cigarettes And
Nicotine Pods
Detectives have arrested an Oldsmar man and charged him with selling counterfeit elec- tronic cigarettes and nicotine pods. The arrest took place last Friday.
Police launched his investiga- tion after receiving information from JUUL Labs, Inc. The com- pany advised police that a man was selling counterfeit electronic cigarettes and nicotine pods on the cell phone app, offerup.com.
The caller told police the products were labeled as JUUL merchandise and were confirmed to be counterfeit.
The investigation led police to 46-year-old Tawfik Soliman, of Oldsmar.
On August 9, 2019, Soliman sold the counterfeit JUUL prod- ucts to an undercover detective and was taken into cus- tody. In an interview with detec- tives, Soliman admitted to purchasing the items directly from China and selling them for a considerable profit.
He was charged with forging and counterfeiting private labels and was transported to the Pinel- las County Jail. The investigation continues.

Two Sought For Jewelry Store Burglaries
Two men are being sought in connection with burglaries of jewelry stores. The incidents took place last week.
Liry’s Jewelry #2, 6716 Han- ley Road, and Cubana Jewelry and Pawn, 7728 W. Hillsbor- ough Avenue, were targeted.
On August 6th, around 9:40 p.m., two Black men made sev- eral attempts to enter the Liry’s Jewelry Store through the back. One of the suspects stayed behind the busi- ness while the other suspect walked out of the camera view.
After unsuccessful attempts, the suspects left the area on foot around 10:30 p.m.
The two men are believed to be the same suspects who en- tered the Cubana Jewelry and Pawn Store on August 7th at 12:40 a.m.
The two males attempted to gain access to the Cubana Jew- elry and Pawn Shop through the back. After several failed at- tempts, they entered and walked
through the Express Tax Refund Office, 7730 W. Hillsborough Avenue, with the intent to break into the jewelry store through a crawl space.
Around 1:22 a.m., they gained entrance through the ceiling of the Cubana Jew- elry and Pawn Shop, but the alarm activated and the suspects fled the scene.
The description of the first suspect has a partial beard. He was wearing black shoes, dark sweat pants, and a sweat shirt with a skull cap.
The second man wore a du- rag with a face shield, a maroon t-shirt, and full sleeve tattoos on both arms.
He also wore dark pants, black shoes, and a skull cap.
