SOUTHERN
MS. SHALONDA HOLMES
A homegoing service for Ms. Shalonda “Shay” Holmes will be held Saturday, March 11, 2017, 11:30 a. m. at The Center For Manifestation, 3102 East Lake Ave., Tampa, FL. There will be a viewing on Friday, March 10th, 6-8 p. m. at Southern Funeral Care, 20510 Riverview Dr., Riverview, FL 33569.
Shalonda is the daughter of Diana Williams and the late James Chatman.
She leaves behind to grieve her: twin daughters, Brittany and Brandy; 1 grandson, Josiyah; 5 sisters, Manicia, An- gelic, Rochele, Tiffany, and Kim- berly. Shay also leaves many other family members: stepfa- ther, Jerome Fulton (Pa-Pa), 3 siblings on dad’s side (Sebra, Jason, and John) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Shay was a college graduate who earned her Associate’s De- gree in Liberal Arts but, was known for her love for educa- tion because she was always learning and returned to school at several different college cam- puses. She was most recently studying for her Degree in nurs- ing.
Shay always wore a huge smile. No matter what life threw at her she was fun, energetic, and was very humorous. She loved to dance and even took salsa and belly dancing classes and often pretended to be Span- ish.
Shay never ever met a stranger and would spark con- versations with people no mat- ter where she went. She often met people at Walmart where she was employed for a short time but, would do volunteer hours at nursing homes due to her love and connection with the elderly.
She also worked from time to time at Successful Hands Learning Center, a daycare owned by her sister, Angie, where the babies loved her kind, gentle Spirit.
Shay was a believer in Christ and was saved. So we will see her again in Glory! She was raised in the church and came from a strong background based on faith and belief in God.
She attended church serv- ices with her mom at Love First Christian Center and also with her sister, Angie at United Apos- tolic Church of Jesus. She loved to worship and would some- times sing and share her love for Christ. She will be sorely missed forever by many but, we find joy in knowing Shay is dancing around with wings in heaven and is finally cancer free!
