Cavaliers Receive Rings In
Opening Night Ceremony
The Cleveland
Cavaliers com-
memorated their
first NBA Champi-
onship in a his-
toric pregame
ceremony, high-
lighted by the presentation of Championship
rings, prior to
their 2016-17 season opener vs. the New York Knicks on Tues- day night at Quicken Loans Arena. The Cavs went on to beat the Knicks, 117-88.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, joined by Cavaliers ma- jority owner Dan Gilbert and vice-chairmen Nate Forbes and Jeff Cohen, along with General Manager David Grif- fin, presented Cavs players and coaches with their distinc- tive Championship rings that celebrate the team’s journey that delivered the first-ever NBA title and the first major sports championship in 52 years to the city of Cleveland.
The approximately 6.5 carat ring is encrusted with over 400 diamonds plus a one carat dia- mond that adorns the top of the Larry O’Brien Trophy. Each ring is set in 10K white gold and 14K yellow gold and is the heaviest NBA Championship ring ever made, weighing in at 165 grams and 105 penny- weights.
Cleveland’s Big Three picked up where they left off last June in Oakland – combining for 71
points in the win – with Kyrie Irving leading all scorers, Kevin Love leading all re- bounders and LeBron James notching the 43rd triple-double of his illustrious career.
After James and his team- mates were presented with their Championship jewelry in a stirring pregame ceremony, the four-time MVP addressed the sold-out crowd at The Q, ending his address with: “It’s Cleveland against the world.”
Neither the World nor the Knicks were able to stop James on the night, with the reigning Finals MVP finishing with 19 points on 9-for-14 shooting, leading both squads with 14 as- sists to go with 11 boards and a blocked shot.
Kyrie Irving got off to a chilly start on Tuesday – going 4-of-12 from the floor – but he caught fire after intermission, netting 19 of his 29 points in the third period.
Kevin Love followed up with 23 points of his own – going 6-of-15 from the floor while leading both squads with 12 boards and three steals.
When the Cleveland Indians arrived at their ballpark before Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday, a small good-luck gift from noted Indians fan Le- Bron James was waiting at each of their lockers: custom, wireless Beats by Dre head- phones.
James, who netted $30 mil- lion when Apple bought Beats by Dre in 2014, couldn't make it to Progressive Field because of a work conflict. Across the parking lot at Quicken Loans Arena, James and the Cava-
Cubs Win Game 2; Roberto Perez Powers Indians Over Cubs With 2 HRs In Series Opener
Once he rounded the bases a second time, propelled by a roar- ing crowd at Progressive Field, Roberto Perez began to un- derstand what he had done.
"I don't think I've ever had a night like that," the Indians' catcher said.
He picked a good time for it.
Known almost exclusively for his defense, Perez provided plenty of pop in Game 1 of the World Series, hitting a pair of homers -- a solo shot and a three-run drive -- as the Indians rolled to their fourth shutout of the postseason,6-0 over the Chicago Cubs, on Tuesday night.
Indians ace Corey Kluber left the Indians' 6-0, Game 1 win after six shutout innings and nine strikeouts, and with the In- dians leading 3-0. He limited the Chicago Cubs to four hits and no walks.
The Cubs even the series Wednesday by beating the Indi- ans, 5-1.

liers were busy routing the Knicks in their season opener.
After watching the unveiling of the championship banner
and receiving his ring, James netted a triple-double (his first in a season opener).
The Indians made sure to say thanks for their gifts via social media. They returned the favor with a signed jersey.
As the Cavs dominated the Knicks, the Indians used a stel- lar Corey Kluber perform- ance to take Game 1 from the Cubs, 6-0.
It's a good time to be a Cleve- land sports fan. Aside, of course, from the fact that the Browns are 0-7.
Bernard Hopkins To Finish Boxing Career With Fight Vs. Joe Smith
BERNARD HOPKINS AND JOE SMITH
Lil Wayne’s Label ‘Forced’ Damian Lillard To Remove Weezy From His New Album
Bernard Hopkins began his career 28 years ago after a 41⁄2-year stint in prison for armed robbery and eventually rose to the top.
He stayed out of trouble and became a legend and one of the most respected fighters in box- ing history.
Now, at age 51, Hopkins will close out his career with a farewell fight against light heavyweight contender Joe Smith on Dec. 17 at The Forum in Inglewood, Califor-
nia, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya stated.
Hopkins, the former undis- puted middleweight and light heavyweight world champion, willturn52onJan.15andisa surefire first-ballot Hall of Famer, but he wanted one more fight before calling it a ca- reer. He will face Smith in a scheduled 12-round light heavyweight bout that will headline an HBO-televised card.
Lil Wayne’s label woes have been a self-contained wound for the most part. But now, it appears his label woes are bleeding over to others who try to work with him.
Dame D.O.L.L.A., the rapper also known as NBA star Damian Lillard, released his new album last Friday called The Letter O. On a project boasting a few big name fea- tures, one of the special guests was Lil Wayne, who probably still ranks as a dream collabo- ration to aspiring MCs when it comes to their wish list of fea- tures.
“Unfortunately, I am being forced to remove Lil Wayne from #TheLetterO track ‘Loyal to the Soil,'” the rapper-hooper wrote in an Instagram post published on Tuesday. “De- spite my agreement with Wayne, his parent label is forcing me to remove him.”
Currently, the full album is still available for streaming in its entirety on Spotify, but “Loyal to the Soil” appears as a thirty-second snippet instead of a full version of the song like the other eleven cuts.
The song’s removal is a blow considering it current ap-

pears to be the most popular track on the project, according to iTunes.
You almost have to wonder what went wrong here? Wayne’s legal battle with Cash Money has been going on for a while now. But, he did a whole project with 2 Chainz that released without any hic- cups. He’s also done features for the likes of Jeezy (“Bout That”), Solange (“Mad”) and Ariana Grande (“Let Me Love You”), so the label is clearing him to appear on other artist’s music.
As such, maybe Lillard and company worked out an arrangement with Wayne but not Universal and/or Cash Money, which may be a costly but still simple fix. Let’s hope all parties can get the paper- work sorted so “Loyal” can stay on the LP.
