While Lamar Odom's spe- cific status is unknown, many outlets reported Friday the former NBA player was con- scious and breathing on his own. Odom has been at Sun- rise Hospital in Las Vegas since Tuesday, having been taken to the facility after being found unresponsive following a three-day binge that al- legedly involved cocaine use at a Nevada brothel called the Love Ranch.
Friday brought the first positive signs for Odom's health as his heart showed ev- idence of increased function. Odom, 35, reportedly drank Cognac, took too many doses of a brand of "herbal Viagra’. After three days of "fighting for his life" in a medically in- duced coma, Odom spoke a few words. His turn for the better continued Saturday.
Lamar Odom is "way, way better" and is more con- versational as he remains in critical condition in a Las Vegas hospital. Odom slept most of the day Friday but did see his kids, father and Khloe Kardashian, his estranged wife. Kardashian and Odom are still technically married as their divorce has not yet been finalized.
Odom suffered multiple strokes, PEOPLE confirmed.
"His organs still aren't that strong," the family source says, adding that "they don't know
Florida A&M's defense forced five turnovers and FAMU's offense rolled to give the Rattlers their first victory of the season, a 41-13 stomp- ing of Delaware State.
The Rattlers offense put up season-high numbers for the
second-straight week, eclips- ing the team's old mark of 27 points. The defense also forced two fourth-quarter in- ceptions. One was returned for a touchdown, and the other set up a touchdown.
The Rattlers improve to 1-6, and Del. State falls to 0-6.
DEREK JETER
Derek Jeter is focusing on more serious matters than fol- lowing baseball this fall.
The retired Yankees captain toldusatagalaforhisTurn2 Foundation, which benefits youth programs: “I was very fortunate to have a support sys- tem growing up. But sometimes I . . . see stories of violence and death that plagued young kids, and I do stop to think, ‘Damn, what if I could have helped?’ Those feelings and thoughts will never stop or go away.”
He added at the event, where he said he doesn’t miss base- ball, “All we can do is listen to the stories and talk to the par- ents of the kids that we were able to help, and contribute to these kids’ future. When I hear stories like that it makes me feel good, because we are mak- ing a difference.”

While some of the Kar-
dashian family members have left Odom's Las Vegas hospital – sisters Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian West and their mom, Kris Jenner, visited this weekend – Khloé plans to remain by his side.
"Lamar still has a way to go," the source says. "It's promising, but he is not home- free."
In addition to the family members that have been by his side since he was first hospi- talized, Odom's visitors have also included former team- mates and colleagues.

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Bethune-Cookman’s five-game winning streak came to end Saturday afternoon as the Wildcats dropped a 24-14 Mid-Eastern Athletic Confer- ence decision to North Car- olina A&T inside venerable Aggie Stadium.
Bethune-Cookman (5-2 overall, 3-1 MEAC) closed to 17-14 on Larry Brihm’s 7- yard run with 14:55 remaining in the fourth quarter, but North Carolina A&T (5-1, 3-0 MEAC) answered with a 33- yard Tarik Cohen run on fourth down. The Aggies fol- lowed by stopping Bethune- Cookman on a fourth-and-goal with just over two minutes re- maining to seal the victory.
Bethune-Cookman struck first on an 82-yard Quentin
Williams to Jontavious Carter touchdown with 6:55 remaining in the first quarter.
However, the Aggies would score the next 17 points, as Denzel Keys caught touch- down passes from Kwashuan Quick and Lamar Raynard to open up a 10-point lead with 5:49 to play in the third.
Williams threw for 191 yards and Brihm 167 for the Wildcats. Anthony Jor- dan rushed for 54 yards while Jawill Davis caught a game- high six passes for a game- high 103 yards.
Bethune-Cookman re- turns to Daytona Beach for Homecoming 2015, next Saturday, facing Nor- folk State inside Munici- pal Stadium at 4 p.m.
Reports emerged during the Presidents Cup last week that Tiger Woods, who looks un- likely to make next year’s Ryder Cup team, expressed in- terest in becoming an assistant captain.
So, Tiger wants to be an as- sistant captain next year if he doesn’t make the team? Prob- ably a good idea. But not ac- cording to Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee.
Chamblee said that both Tiger and Phil Mickelson don’t “deserve” the roles be- cause: “I don’t really think it’s appropriate to give players leadership roles in an event they didn’t show interest or passion for when they were competitors.” It’s hardly sur- prising given that Chamblee generally rips Tiger whenever he can. On Tiger specifically, Chamblee said that the for- mer World No. 1 doesn’t de- serve to be a captain because

he didn’t show “interest or passion” in the competition earlier in his career. If he had, Chamblee claims, Tiger would have finished with a record better than his current 13-17-3 career Ryder Cup record..... Really?
