The Real Reason Why Beyonce Made ‘Lemonade’
Two years ago it didn't look like Beyoncé and Jay Z were going to make it to their next wedding an- niversary. Their marriage was at the breaking point and they were barely talking. The couple was forced to make a choice: save the relationship or live separate lives.
"They had been having problems for years," reveals a source close to the couple. "There was a con- stant commitment issue between them and in the end they were barely speaking. Beyonce didn't fully trust Jay and it was hard for her to get past that."
And so began an intense period of reflection for the couple, continues the insider. "They went to a lot of counseling and have been working on their issues ever since. They
had help to get them through it."
With the release of Lemonade, Beyonce seems to have finally faced the mari-
tal strife rumors that have plagued them for years—and in the process, solved the mystery of what really happened in the elevator showdown between her sister, Solange, and her husband back in 2014. In the full three-minute video later leaked to the public, a bodyguard has to physically restrain Solange as she
tries to repeatedly punch and kick Jay Z.
At the time it was widely reported Jay Z's close friendship with designer
Rachel Roy was the cause of the violence. In a bid to calm the media frenzy that ensued, Beyoncé and Jay Z released a rare public statement in which they admitted, "...families have problems and we're no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We've put this behind us and hope every-
one else will do the same."
Out of the pain came Beyonce's masterpiece, Lemonade. It was a project
that ran the risk of becoming a breakup album; but it managed to transition into so much more and, in the end, told a story of love and hope, of betrayal and sorrow, of trusting your instincts, of denial. Sprinkled throughout is a generous measure of gut-wrenching devotion and enduring love proving it's
possible to weave the pieces of a broken heart back together again.
Jay Z has been fully on board with how Beyoncé has chosen to deal with her hurt. "He is fully supportive. He understands the reasoning," another in- sider tells us. "This is part of the process of being trans- parent. And they have healed. He has been very humble about the experience. Beyoncé is the love of his life and
Beyoncé’s ‘Lemonade’ Premiere Pulls Solid Ratings For HBO
Although the HBO premiere of Lemonade was undoubtedly a hugely anticipated event, the special still had to battle against the ongoing NBA Play- offs and fans attending various Prince tributes. All things con- sidered, Lemonade did well. TV by the Numbers reports that Beyoncé’s film pulled in 787,000 viewers in the 18-49 demographic. Lemonade ranked 29th in Saturday’s cable
ratings, well behind the NBA Playoffs games that took the top three and the eighth spots. Dragonball Z Kai fanatics are also stronger than the Beyhive, apparently; the anime drew a higher audience.
The Lemonade album is ex- pected to top the Billboard 200, though. First-week pro- jections are between 500,000 to 600,000 units, according to Hits Daily Double.
Police Launch 'Murder Probe' Into Prince's Death Amid Fears Singer Was Overprescribed Drugs
Prince Allegedly Stayed Awake For 6 Days Straight Before His Death
Prince stayed awake for ‘154 hours straight’ before his death, according to the singer’s brother-in-law.
Maurice Phillips, who is married to the late singer’s sis- ter, Tyka Nelson, made the revelation as the star’s family gathered at his home for a me- morial following his private cre- mation.
“I was with him just last weekend,” Maurice said. “He worked 154 hours straight. He was a good brother-in-law.” There are several rumors swirling around claims that he died from a drug overdose. Po- lice officials have made it a top priority to figure out the singer’s cause of death. They don’t be- lieve it was a suicide or trauma- related.“Prince’s medical history is at the top of detec- tives’ list when it comes to cause of his death,” said a police source. Prince was found dead at his Paisley Park home last Thursday.
he will do what it takes.
"Jay was involved in the creation of Lemonade and knew every song Bey was going to release. He knew the lyrics; he knew the implications. He had to approve the
songs before release. Jay is a very smart businessman...Bottom line is that they are both really smart and they both saw dollar signs."
The singer will be taking the stage Friday (tonight) at Raymond James Stadium.
Detectives have apparently launched a murder probe into Prince's death.
Police are reportedly looking for doctors or “handlers” who treated the star amid friends' fears he may have been overpre- scribed drugs.
“A crack team has been assigned with learning minute by minute what Prince was doing during his final days. But the investigation will also look into his activities over the last two years," a police source told the Daily Star.
According to the newspaper, Police in Minneapolis have refused to rule out
a criminal homicide charge.
It comes as detectives learned
the singer had been up for six
days before his death.
As the star’s family gathered
at his home for a memorial 24 hours after his private crema- tion, his brother-in-law told how the singer had not slept for six and a half days before he was found dead in a lift.
Maurice Phillips, who is married to Tyka Nelson, the Purple Rain star’s sister and only full blood relative, said: “I was with him just last weekend. He worked 154 hours straight. He was a good brother-in-law.”
Doctors advised he would need to be mon- itored for 24 hours but Prince left hospital and continued on his jour- ney home from a gig in Atlanta.
Meanwhile, his mil- lion dollar fortune could be split be- tween his siblings, ac- cording to a US report.
