On Friday, January 13th, the community will have an opportunity to enjoy an evening of mingling with oth- ers who enjoy jazz. Entitled, “Jazz Under The Stars,” the event is being sponsored by the Tampa-Hillsborough Action Plan, in partnership with the Tampa Black Heritage Festival and WTMP AM Radio Station.
The event will be held in the 5508 Courtyard, 5508 N. 50th Street, beginning at 7 p.m., and ending at 9 p.m.,
however, in between those hours, music enthusiasts will enjoy the talents of local artists from the Tampa Bay Area.
Ms. Ebone Cruz will serve as the Hostess. Some of the performers include Ms. Cleo Heart, The Maurice Allen Band, and Monique & Company.
Steve Marshall, M.A., Ed. S., Manager of 5508 Devel- opment & Partnerships Tampa Hillsborough Action Plan, Inc., and Program Coordinator said, “This is an event you just can’t afford to miss. There is going to be lots of fun, food, and great music.”
Marshall said the idea
came to him during a discus- sion with his supervisor, Ms. Jeanette Bradley.
“We were talking about ways to get the community to come out here. And I came up with the idea. I said the Lord gave it to me.”
The organizers hope that it becomes an Annual event. Marshall said they hope to host others during the year that will build up to a major event in January 2017. “We are hoping that the build up will allow us to invite a major per- former next year.”
