A Celebration of Life for Mr. Monte Lamar Irvin, known to many as “Mohawk Munchie,” will be held Saturday, May 27, 2017, 1 p. m. at Center For Man- ifestation, 3201 E. Lake Ave., Tampa, FL, Dr. Mark T. Jones, Sr., Pastor, with Rev. Dr. Bartholomew Banks, Sr., Pastor of St. John Progressive M. B. Church, Tampa, officiating.
Monte Irvin was born to Nicole Walker and Monte Irvin, Sr. on June 22, 1989 in Tampa, FL, where he remained a resi- dent. He was educated in Hills- borough and Broward County schools. Later, he became a lit- tle league baseball coach at Bel- mont Heights Park. Monte accepted Christ and was a mem- ber of St. John Progressive M. B. Church.
Truly dedicated to his music and spreading the word of love and hope, Monte always pre- sented a huge, radiant smile upon his face, and enjoyed help- ing others. Seeing them smile made him smile even greater as he served in the community by supporting and lending a help- ing hand in any way possible. The community knew him as “Mohawk Munchie,” as he rep- resented a “YOU CAN” positive message.
Each year he sponsored a community Easter Egg Hunt making sure no kids miss out.
He was preceded in death by: his maternal grandmother, Alice Walker; paternal grandfa- ther, Henry Irvin; and aunts, Catherine Moss Henry and Monica Alvarez.
He leaves to cherish his fondest memories: mother, Nicole Walker; father, Monte Irvin, Sr. (Nicki); paternal grandmother, Rose Robinson; devoted girlfriend, Marquisha Wright; daughters, Kymorra Irvin, Kylie Irvin; son, Qualei Irvin; sisters, Lendria Vernon, Sedericka Weeks, Makayla Jen- nings; brothers, Gary Walker, Corey Richardson, Marcus Johnson, Tony Hampton; de- voted great aunt: Carrie Burston; great uncle, James Essie Walker; uncles, Gary Walker (Shylonda), Robert Walker (Verina), Ralston Edman (Katana) and Keith Henry; special friends and god- mothers, Mary, Tracy and Ci- cley; 26 nieces and nephews; and a host of uncles, cousins and friends.
Public viewing will be held Friday, May 26, 2017 at Integrity Funeral Services Chapel, 3822 E. 7th Avenue, Tampa, 33605 from 5-8 p. m. Family and friends are asked to assemble at 10:45 a. m. at the church on Sat- urday.
