AIKENS
MRS. MAY RUBY ANDERSON
A Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. May Ruby Anderson of Tampa, Florida, who passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2018, will be held Friday, October 12th, 11 a. m. at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Rev. Michael Neely, officiating. The interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Mrs. May Ruby Anderson was born December 22, 1931 in St. Andrew, Jamaica. She en- joyed gardening, cooking, danc- ing and singing.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Taylor and son, Barrington Robinson.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories with: her children, Cephas Gilbert, Syd- ney Gilbert, Maureen Worth, Claude Price, Judith Gordon- Bostick and Robert Bostick; grandchildren, Dezrene Gilbert, Castello Gilbert, Sundi- ata Gilbert, Sidreka Gilbert, Nicola Gilbert, Sydney Gilbert, Jr., Kailyn Bostick, Shamar Bo- stick, Melissa Worth, Kathryn Worth, Andre Pryce, David Pryce, Jordan Pryce, Abi Pryce, Joshua Robinson, Miguel Robinson and Chrissy White; great-grandchildren, Rosa Mor- rison, Bella Morrison, Simeon Grimshaw and Ruben Grimshaw; brother, Alick Tay- lor; sisters, Beryl Hunter and Babs Macuslki; a host of other relatives and friends that will miss her.
The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Thursday, October 11th from 5 to 7 p. m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p. m.
The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Friday for the service.

MS. FERTIE A. BRAND
Memorial Services with Mili- tary Honors For Ms. Fertie A. Brand will be held at 11 a. m. on Friday, October 12, 2018, at Har- mon Funeral Home 5002 North 40th Street, Tampa, FL 33610, with Pastor R. Steven Andrews, officiating.
Ms. Fertie Brand was born in Easley, SC, and is the seventh of ten children.
She is survived by: two sons, William Griffin and Rakio Brand; five wonderful grandchil- dren and four great-grandchil- dren.
She moved to Florida in 1972 and began her career in Finan- cial Management at the Univer- sity of South Florida, retiring after 33 years of service as the Assistant Director of Research Compliance.
Fertie joined the United States Army Reserves in 1974, re- tired after 21 years as a Master Sergeant. She joined the AMVETS in 1990. Through her dedication and hard work, she worked her way through the chairs and was elected and served as Department Com- mander from 2002 – 2004. She was the first Black female to ever hold this office in the State of Florida. Fertie was elected Na- tional Finance Officer and served from 2008 – 2010.
A Harmon Burial
     A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Lula S. Haywood of Tampa, Florida, who passed away on Monday, October 1, 2018 will be held on Friday, Oc- tober 12th, 2 p. m. at First Baptist Church of College Hill, 3838 N. 29th Street, Rev. S. Evan Bur- rows, pastor, officiating. The in- terment will be in Orange Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Lula Haywood was a na- tive of Hilliard, FL and was edu- cated in the public schools of Nassau County, FL. Lula and husband, David moved to Tampa, in 1944 to start their lives together. Lula was a de- voted member of First Baptist Church of College Hill, Tampa, and a member of the Lily White Society.
You were the epitome of beauty! You taught us to love through your actions and the way you cared for others. You were everyone’s mother, grand- mother, friend, sister and coun- selor, whatever you needed to be. We just hope that we all real- ize the greatest tribute to your legacy is to live what you embod- ied each day, “LOVE GOD, LOVE PEOPLE, LOVE ONE AN- OTHER”.

Murder Suspect From Jacksonville Surrenders
To Police

A 29-year-old Jack- sonville man was arrested after he approached a Pasco County deputy Saturday.
The deputy was in Wesley Chapel when the man ap- proached him and made in- criminating statements to the deputy.
According to police, the deputy was returning to his parked car when the man ap- proached him with what ap- peared to be blood oll over the front of his clothes.
He made statements about committing a crime in Jacksonville. He also told the deputy that he was going to kill himself, but decided to turn himself in instead.
The man, identified as Marco Stephens, was de- tained while the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office con- tacted the Jacksonville Sher- iff’s Office.
Detectives from Jack- sonville travelled to Wesley Chapel, where they arrested Stephens and charged him with the murder of his wife.
