According to the News Tribune, the once-homeless teen Perry received the funds from the BeyGood and Shawn Carter Foundations.

started to understand my situ- ation, I still didn’t ask ques-
tions because I figured no one could answer them,” Perry told the Federal Way Mirror in 2017. “I would try to find an answer myself. When that was a dead end, it was school and sports that were there for me.” Now a senior at Thomas Jef- ferson High School, Perry was recently named the King County Youth of the Year for the Boys and Girls Club and earned a $2,000 scholarship as a result.

The production will include only people who can do justice to the Detroit-born Franklin, who died of pancreatic cancer on Aug. 16. The segment will include Gladys

Franklin grew up singing in the Detroit church run by her father, the late Rev. C. L. Franklin.

In her lifetime, Franklin won six AMAs and hosted the show twice, in 1976 and in 1983.

Speaking about his upcom- ing album, Quavo recalled his easygoing creative process, saying that it “was never calcu- lated.” “It was just about me having all these features out and everybody assuming that I was gonna do, like, a solo ca- reer,” he told Hypebeast dur- ing a Sept. 2018 interview. “I got too much music. I got to channel it somewhere. So dropping the solo project is a good way to do it.”
