En Vogue Signs New Record Deal; Headed On Tour
Old and new:En Vogue was a big girl group in the late 1980s and 1990s that sold more than 20 million records worldwide to date, and are often considered one of the best female vocal groups of all time. Now, the 2017 version of En Vogue consists of original members, Terry Ellis and Cindy Heron-Braggs and newcomer Rhona Bennett. Original members, Dawn Robinson (abruptly left the group during contract talks in 1997) and Maxine Jones (left in 2004 to take care of her family) are no longer with the group.
In 2016, legendary female R&B group En Vogue (orig- inal members Cindy Heron-Braggs, Terry Ellis, and newcomer Rhona Bennett) made their return to the spotlight with the new
single “Deja Vu,” and planned album, Electric Cafe. Now, the trio has signed a new deal with Entertainment One (eOne) to push the proj- ect forward, complete with an international spring tour
and U.S. summer tour to sup- port. They will be performing at the Cape Town Interna- tional Jazz Festival in South Africa this week and then heading to Europe for the next month.
Due to the educational breakthroughs of the Sean An- derson Foundation, Big Sean has been awarded with the key to Detroit.
For the hometown love he has shown, Big Sean has been given the key to the city of De- troit.
"This isn't just me, this is the key to the city for all of us, be- cause I represent y'all. I am y'all," Sean said during his ac-
ceptance speech at the key-giv- ing ceremony on Saturday.
Sean is the youngest person to receive the key to Detroit in city history, as he noted in a celebratory Instagram post.
Detroit Mayor Mike Dug- gan, who has held the office since 2014, said Sean is the third person to whom he has presented the city's key, fol- lowing Stevie Wonder and Berry Gordy.

closing Rikers, which will hap- pen over time according to a media announcement.
Jay Z published a rare tweet in support of the move, refer- encing Kalief Browder, the troubled young man who was imprisoned in Rikers. Brow- der spent three years on the island and took his own life
once he was released. Brow- der was the subject of the Time: The Kalief Browder Story documentary with Jay Z serving as a co-executive pro- ducer.
John Legend followed with a pair of tweets and has long been a vocal critic of prison overpopulation.
The "In da Club" hit-maker was reportedly slated to be the main opening act on the "Loyal" singer's Party Tour, which kicked off in Baltimore, Maryland on Friday, but his name has since been removed from all promotional materi- als, which listed other sup- port acts such as Fabolous, O.T. Genasis, and Kap.
T.M.Z.com reported that 50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson, left the tour be- cause of a dispute over money. According to the site, both parties had agreed on his fee for the gig so execu- tives at Live Nation, the com- pany organizing the shows, reportedly assumed he was on board and began promot-
ing his appearance. However, when it came to
signing the contract, the rap- per and Live Nation were "hundreds of thousands of dollars apart" on terms and attempts to negotiate fell through and he walked away.
50 Cent took to Instagram on Friday to share a screen- grab of the article, which was titled "50 Cent I Never Signed Chris Brown Tour Deal... They Can't Afford Me!" and disputed the head- line and shared his version of events.
I would never say my friends can't afford me," he wrote. "This run wasn't han- dled correctly, I'm still on set filming Den of Thieves."
