  Winners Chosen For 9th Shuffleboard Tournament

For nine consecutive months, members of the Seniors Shuffleboard Team have hosted Shuffleboard Tournaments. Recently, the organization held its 9th competition at Ragan Park Community Center.
This month, the tourna- ment’s first place winners were Jazzy Seniors Connie Bowden and Linda Cot- ney, of Ragan Park Com- munity Center. The second place honors were bestowed upon the V.I.P.s of Sulphur Springs Community Center, Charlotte Coffie and Willie Mae Gardner.
The gift cards for this month’s tournament were provided by Ms. Tahrita Lee, of Integrity Insurance and Dr. Vondalyn Craw- ford, of Health Matters Pharmacy.
Steve Scott said, “I would like to thank the sponsors for their support of the tournament.”
Scott is the Director and Trainer of the Shuffleboard Team. Katherine Palmer serves as the Assistant Trainer.

“I am still looking for the City, the County, or anyone else to step up and finance a Shuffleboard Court in the East Tampa community. I know we can get the Court built, we just need the fi- nances,” he said.

Anyone interested in learning to play shuffle- board can visit Ragan Park Community Center, 1200 E. Lake Avenue. Scott teaches Shuffleboard on Mondays and Fridays from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. He also teaches the game at Cyrus Greene Community Center on Thursday, from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.
Scott said he uses portable shuffleboards to train seniors at Williams Park and Fair Oaks Commu- nity Centers.

proved their game. They came in second place for the first time, winning a gift card.
