DEACONESS BILLYE MATHEWS JONES
Homegoing celebration for Deaconess Billye Mathews Jones, who went home to her Savior on February 11, 2017, will be held on Saturday, Feb- ruary 18, 2017, 10 a. m. at New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2511 E. Columbus Drive, Tampa, FL, Rev. Larry L. Roundtree, II, Pastor, with Rev. Albert Gallmon, Jr., Pastor of Peace Progressive M. B. Church, Presiding and Rev. Dr. Freeman Gallmon, Pastor of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Gainesville, FL, Eulogist. Inter- ment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Billye will live on in the hearts of her husband of 25 years, Deacon Wilton T. Jones; her daughter, Cher Pruitt (James) of Valrico and son, Kenneth Brinson, Sr. (Lucretia) of Kennesaw, GA; granddaugh- ter, like a daughter, Stacy Brin- son-Conley (Chet) of Mont Belvieu, TX; granddaughters, Armani Brinson (Deltona) and Kamryn Brinson (West Point, NY); grandson, Kenneth Brin- son, Jr. (West Point, NY); great- grandchildren, Robert Matthew Tolliver and Trinity Bowles; brother, Raymond Mathews (Delores); sister, Barbara Oates (Robert); aunt, Helen Stacy; cousin, like a sister, Doris Campbell; sister- in-law, Ann Sledge (Gerald); brothers-in- law, Willie Jones (Caroline) and Fletcher Jones (Essie); and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Billye Mathews Jones, the oldest child of Cornelius Math- ews and Mattie Stacy Mathews, was born on January 1, 1936, in Tampa, FL. She was a proud alumnus of Middleton High School, Class of 1953. She con- tinued her education at Tuskegee Institute, becoming the first person from her imme- diate and extended family to at- tend college. While at Tuskegee, Billye became the first female to march in the Tuskegee Marching Band. In 1958, Billye earned a B. S. Degree in Ele- mentary Education and ac- cepted her first teaching position at Bradenton Elemen- tary School.
She furthered her educa- tion, receiving her Master’s De- gree from the University of Tampa. Her teaching career spanned 44 years.
Billye accepted Christ at an early age and served faithfully at New Mt. Zion M. B. Church as a part of the Deaconess Min- istry until her health declined. Her personal outreach included involvement with The Ameri- can Red Cross and Metropoli- tan Ministries among others.
THERE WILL BE NO PUB- LIC VIEWING. Friends are asked to assemble at the church on Saturday at approximately 9:45 a. m. for the service.

BROTHER JAMES THOMAS WRIGHT ‘SHADOW’
A celebration of life me- morial service will be held for Brother James Thomas Wright “Shadow,” born, Feb- ruary 18, 1947, to the late Frank Wright, Sr. and Macie Wright in Brooklyn, NY. He attended schools in Hillsbor- ough County and was bap- tized and accepted Christ at an early age.
James was a former mem- ber of St. John Progressive Missionary Baptist Church for many years, before mov- ing on to becoming a member of The General Assembly of The Firstborn, Inc.
He was a well known singer and loved to play bas- ketball and dominoes. He also worked on various jobs at the Robbins Lumber Yard and as a Sky-Cap at TIA.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at The General As- sembly of The Firstborn, Inc., at 11 a. m., located, 2123 Main Street, Tampa, FL 33607, eu- logist Pastor K. L. Muldrow.
