Crime Stoppers Offers $1,000 In Gun Bounty Program
HAPPY 30TH BIRTHDAY ‘OJ’!
OJ MURDOCK
A life well lived is a precious gift of hope and strength and grace, from someone who has made our world a brighter, better place.
Love, the family.
Since December 2016, four businesses have reported burglaries in which guns were taken. The burglaries have taken place in Hillsborough and Polk Counties.
In an attempt to remove guns off the streets, Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay have launched a new program. Ms. Janelle McGregor, spokesperson for the Tampa Police Department said in a recent interview, “the Gun Bounty Program will pay an individual $1,000 for infor- mation leading to the arrest of someone carrying an illegal gun.”
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office,
in early December 2016, unidentified suspects drove an SUV into the front glass window of the Tampa Arms Company, 4023 W. Waters Avenue.
At least 10 suspects were involved in the burglary. Once inside the business, they reportedly removed ap- proximately 40 firearms and fled the scene.
In early December, deputies with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglar alarm at Guns Ga- lore, 2440 U. S. Highway 92 East, in Lakeland.
Deputies arrived within 3 minutes of the alarm alert, and discovered the front door
lock was broken and the glass gun cases had been broken.
Detectives said more than 46 handguns were stolen dur- ing the burglary.
Police said the same busi- ness was burglarized again on December 24, 2016, and 12 firearms were stolen during that burglary.
Earlier this week, uniden- tified suspects targeted a gun store in Bartow, and several other guns were taken, police said.
Anyone wanting to be eli- gible for the reward must contact Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay at 1-873-TIPS (8477), or at www.crimestop- perstb.com.
Police Are Searching For Robbery Suspect Who Demanded Sex From Victim
The Tampa Police Depart- ment is currently searching for a man who attacked a woman and then demanded sex from her. The incident took place at the Family Dollar, 8727 N. 40th Street.
According to police, an un- known Black man approached the woman and asked her to purchase a package of ciga- rettes for him. The man gave the woman $5 and some change.
When she attempted to purchase the cigarettes, she didn’t have enough money and left the money the man had given her with the store clerk.
As she attempted to leave the business, she was con- fronted by the man who struck her in the face and took her cell phone, stating that she owed him a dollar.
The woman attempted to explain that she had left the money with the clerk. But, the man knocked her to the ground and sat on her while telling her that she was going to pay him the money or have sex with him.
The woman was able to es- cape, but the man followed her on a bicycle. The second time, he confronted her, he wrapped his arms around her and re- peated that she was going to
have sex with him or pay him the dollar she owed him.
The man then snatched a small purse from her that she was carrying in her back pocket and fled the scene by jumping over a fence.
Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay is offering a reward of up to $3,000 for information that leads to the identification and arrest of the suspect in this case.
Anyone with information and who is interested in claim- ing the reward can do so anonymously can contact Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay at 1-873-TIPS (8477), or at www.crimestopperstb.com.
