Women’s Ministry To Roll Out College Bound Initiative For 12-18-Year-Olds

Pastor Bartholomew Banks, pastor of St. John Progressive M. B. Church, places education very high on his list of “vision makers.” Education and its impor- tance is what he will be talk- ing to young people ages 12-18 years old.
The Women of Vision Ministry at St. John Progres- sive will be rolling out the “Education Carpet” as they
host the College Bound Ini- tiative (CBI) for students in 6-12th grades.
The event will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016,10a.m.–12noon in the Life Center at St. John, 2504 E. Chipco. Pastor Banks will be the guest speaker.
“We’re asking the stu- dents to come in about 9:30 a. m. so that we can get them registered and be prepared to kick off the program at ex- actly 10 a. m.,” stated Ms.

A plea is also being issued to the parents, who can also attend the session. “This will be an opportunity for them (young people) to jump start their education after high school,” she said.
Ms. Goldsmith, who also heads the Heart of East Tampa Front Porch Council, Inc., said the Women of Vi- sion Ministry is working hard to get representatives
from universities, colleges, trade schools, junior col- leges, entrepreneurs to share their game plans and stories at CBI event.
The committee has re- ceived confirmations from Hillsborough Community College, Edward Waters Col- lege, FAMU, B-CU, Florida Memorial and others are ex- pected.
Members of the Women of Vision Ministry at St. John Progressive are: Pat Ball, Cheryl Burnett, Johnetta Goldsmith, Phyllis James, Carmen Turner, Tami Trimming, Beverly Garcia, Krystal Davis, Anesha Randle, Sheila Mays, and Ellen Murphy. Lady Vanessa Banks is an honorary member.
“We need the young peo- ple to take advantage of this opportunity,” Ms. Gold- smith said.
