Murder Of Slain Gospel Musician Painful For His Mother
IN MEMORIAM
MRS. BEATRICE BEE FULTON 11/13/1926 – 10/15/2011
Gone but not forgotten. We will love you always. Your children and grands.
BY LEON B. CREWS Sentinel Staff Writer
On Monday, October 10th, Levi Dixon, Jr. would have celebrated his 26th birthday. Now his mother, Angela Pear- son, is left with only the mem- ory of her son, and all the potential he had.
In July of 2008, Dixon was hanging out at the home of a friend in West Tampa doing what he loved the best: compos- ing Gospel music.
At some point, Dixon found himself alone in the house, and someone entered and shot him to death. There has not been an arrest in his murder, and his mother maintains hope that her phone will ring one day with great news.
LEVI DIXON, JR.
“I have faith in our law en- forcement officers, and I believe my son’s killer or killers will be caught.
“If they don’t pay the price on Earth, they will pay for it in heaven. They will be tormented the rest of their lives for taking my son away.”
Ms. Pearson said she’s no different than other parents who dread burying their chil- dren. She said the pain and loss
don’t ever go away, but you do find a better way of dealing with
it.
“Levi was such a gifted young man, and was ready to make his mark on the world with his Gospel music. It was something he really loved, and put a lot of time into.”
Ms. Pearson said she hopes the people in West Tampa who know what happened to her son will step up, and allow him to rest in peace.
“I don’t like using the term closure, because there can be no closure with my son gone. All I can hope for is justice.
“I can’t speak for other par- ents, but none of us should be burying our children at this point of their lives. We’ve got to do something to turn this thing around, and teach them that it’s wrong to kill each other.”
IN MEMORY OF
WILLIE B. HENDERSON
Remembering October 13, 2006, when our Heav- enly Father called you from your earthly home to your eternal home.
Our emotions were two- fold: sadness because you were no longer here, yet happiness because you are now with our Father.
The Henderson and Brown families.
THANK YOU FROM THE FAMILY OF
MRS. NETTIE FAYE JAMES
Sad was the parting of her life, one we loved so dear, we’re left now with sweet memories of her once here. In some small way, every single day precious memories of her will come our way. Unseen and unheard, but always near, and Christ’s divine spirit always dear.
We take comfort in your kind and thoughtful expres- sions of sympathy, and we say, “Thank You!”
Special thanks to: Pastor T. D. Leonard and Mt. Tabor MB Church, Rest Haven Staff, and Ray Williams Funeral Home.
Gratefully, Mr. Albert James and the entire James Fam- ily.
