Rev Run Reveals Run-DMC
Queen & Slim: Lil Baby Goes On The Run In 'Catch The Sun' Video
Quality Control Music’s Lil Baby premiered a new video for his track “Catch The Sun” on Wednesday (January 29). The visuals for the song, which appears on Queen & Slim soundtrack, parallel the Lena Waithe directed-film as Baby and his real-life girlfriend Jayda Cheaves go on the run to- gether.
The Cam Busby-directed video starts with the Atlanta native waking up Cheaves in the middle of the night to escape the police after he spots them from a distance. The two hop in an old school

coupe to flee the scene and find a spot to let the heat die down.
The visual and record rep- resent a different approach from Lil Baby’s usual brass and braggadocious street music. “Sh*t Different For Me But This Song One Of Them Ones,” he captioned an Instagram post about the video.
Besides Lil Baby, Queen & Slim’s 11-song soundtrack features other notable artists such as Megan Thee Stal- lion, Vince Staples, Burna Boy and Bilal. Quality Control’s partner Motown Records released the LP, which dropped the same week as the film.

With Kobe Bryant
The world is still reeling from the sudden death of re- tired NBA superstar, Kobe Bryant, who was killed in a helicopter crash on Sunday (January 26) alongside his 13- year-old daughter, Gianna and the seven other people on- board.
Before Bryant established a relationship with Nike in 2003, he had several signature adidas shoes, including the KB8, KB8 2, KB8 3 and the Kobe 2. Just like Run-DMC, who had a smash hit called “My Adidas” and always rocked the Three Stripes, Bryant rapped and ultimately connected with the pioneering Hip Hop group.
Shortly after Run-DMC’s performance at the 62nd An- nual Grammy Awards, held on the same day as Bryant’s death, Rev Run sat down with Yahoo Entertainment and revealed they once hit the studio together.
“Years ago, somebody con- nected [Run-D.M.C.] to Kobe Bryant, and we were

going to make a record to- gether,” he said. “We met at the studio [in L. A.], because Kobe at the time had a rela- tionship with adidas, and we had that big record, ‘My Adi- das.’ So we hung out all night and discussed options of how we should make the record.
“He liked to rap, we knew he was a good basketball player that wanted to rap with us, and we had a great night, took pictures. He was excited to meet us, and we were ex- cited to meet him. It was just beautiful hanging with Kobe — and starting to record a record that we never finished.”
Shaq Shares Throwback Studio Session With Kobe Bryant And DJ Clark Kent
As Shaquille O’Neal continues to mourn the sud- den death of fellow NBA su- perstar Kobe Bryant along with the rest of the world, he appears to be doing a lot of reflecting on their friendship.
On Monday (January 27), only one day after Bryant perished in a helicopter crash alongside his 13-year-old- daughter Gianna and seven other people, Shaq shared an old freestyle of Bryant’s from a studio session with DJ Clark Kent.
“My favorite Kobe mo- ment was this night when we went to the studio with DJ CLARK KENT AND U blessed me with this 16,” he wrote in the caption. “S/o @hotfreestyle.”

Bryant dipped his toes in Hip Hop many times over the years. In high school, he was a member of a rap group called CHEIZAW that was temporarily signed to Sony Entertainment.
In 1998, he recorded a verse for a remix of Brian McKnight’s “Hold Me” and appeared on “3 X Dope” from Shaq’s Respect album, al- though Bryant’s name was- n’t included in the credits.
