Rihanna’s Taking Time From Expanding Her Brand To Record New Album
Finally: JAY-Z and Bey- oncé have released their col- laborative album, Everything Is Love Saturday, during the mid- dle of a London concert on their On The Run II tour.
Back in November, the Brook- lyn native revealed in an inter- view with The New York Times that he and his wife Be- yoncé were in the process of recording an album. However, the collaborative effort was put on hold to focus on their recent solo albums, 4:44 (2017) and Lemonade (2016), respec- tively.
Bey and Jay also released a new music video for their track “APESH*T” and an additional
single “SALUD!” that doesn’t appear on the project.
Jay disses the Grammys on “APESH*T,” rapping, “Tell the Grammys f*%k that 0 for 8 sh*t.” (Jay was the most nom- inated artist at the 2018 cere- mony, but was completely shut out.) He also confirms the rumor that he turned down a Super Bowl Halftime Show offer: “I said no to the Super Bowl/You need me, I don’t need you/Every night we in the end zone/Tell the NFL we in stadiums too.”
Beyoncé calls out Spotify on the track “NICE.” Referencing the fact that her 2016 album has never been available on the streaming platform.
With the exception of ap- pearing on N.E.R.D.’s “Lemon” track and “Wild Thoughts” by DJ Khaled, Ri- hanna has not recorded a full scale album since releasing ‘Anti’ in 2016. But there’s good news.
Rihanna has joked before about fans not letting her forget that she hasn’t dropped an album in almost two years, and during an interview on the U.K.’s Graham Norton Show Friday (June 15) to promote Ocean’s 8, she offi- cially confirmed her return to the studio.
When asked if there was a “chance” of “new music,” Rih Rih jokingly replied “Who sent you? I know one of my fans got to you!” before confirming, “I’m

actually in the studio at the mo- ment.”
The small confirmation is about all that the bajan singer was willing to share.
Rihanna has been pretty busy since the 2016 release of her critically-acclaimed eighth studio LP, Anti. After a world tour to support the album, Ri- hanna put her focus into brand expansion, including her suc- cessful Fenty clothing and shoe line with Puma.
In 2017, the Grammy-win- ner launched Fenty Beauty, which earned an impres- sive $72 million in its first month.
Since then, Rihanna has expanded Fenty to include more beauty products, and re- cently debuted the first collec- tion from her Savage X Fenty lingerie line.
  Oprah Signs Major Deal With
One week after what would have been Prince’s 60th birthday, a report that more unheard music could end up being released by way of a new contract with Sony Music.
The late singer’s estate snagged a licensing deal with the record label, Variety re- ported Friday (June 15).
No official statement has been made regarding the con- tract, but the deal reportedly includes music from Prince’s infamous “vault” which could amount to thousands of unre- leased songs.
It is well documented that Prince had disdain for record labels and his longstanding
battle to control his music throughout career. Most no- tably, the music icon changed his name to “The Artist For- mally Known As Prince,” and donned the word “slave” on his face during his war with Warner Music in the ’90s.
During a meet and greet in 2015, he likened record label contracts to a form of “slavery” in which artists are “inden- tured servants.”
He also warned against signing record deals, and ex- plained why he joined Jay Z’s Tidal imprint stating, “Once we have our own resources, we can provide what we need for ourselves.”
Remains CEO Of OWN
Billionaire and still going strong, Oprah Winfrey still has major star power. She has signed a deal with Apple and will work to create original content released through Apple's con- tent lineup.
According to The Holly- wood Reporter, the deal could include film and television and possibly even books, applica- tions and other content distrib- uted through Apple.
The deal was a competitive one for Winfrey's talents, a competition that included both Netflix and Amazon. As for Winfrey's position with her television network OWN, Win- frey will remain the chair- woman and CEO.
Her deal with Apple is non- exclusive, which allows Win- frey to develop new content for Apple while still working on her
