‘Black Panther’ Reaches $426.6M Globally
Drake Gives Away Nearly $1M Of New Song’s Video Budget
Black Panther earned $241.96 million in North America over its four-day opening weekend, making it the second-highest gross- ing opening of all time, Dis- ney confirmed to Deadline.
With a $200 million pro- duction budget, Black Pan- ther is already out-earning box office projections, thanks in part to an aggressive, months-long marketing push from Disney. But much of Black Panther’s box office success actually seems to be coming from word-of-mouth and social media, spurred on by fans eager to share the ex- perience.
The runaway success had Disney revising the film’s box-office estimates through- out the weekend. According to Variety, the studio had originally projected a $218 million opening, but bumped that to $235 million Sunday morning. The film actually ended up performing even
better than that, thanks to a Monday gross of $40.2 mil- lion, earning Black Pan- ther the record for the biggest Monday box-office gross in history.
Variety reports that the film’s global gross to date is at $426.6 million.
Most Tweeted Movie This Year
Even before hit theaters, “Black Panther” has become the most-tweeted about movie in the world this year. Breaking the Twitter record
for 2018, “Black Panther” has amassed more than five mil- lion tweets on the social plat- form revolving around the Marvel movie.
“Black Panther” is the top tweeted-about movie this year globally, with “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” coming in second place and “Maze Runner: The Death Cure” coming in third. In the United States, “Fifty Shades Freed” is also one of the top tweeted-about movies this year.

Is It Love: ‘Black Panther’ Stars Romantically Linked?
Drake is doing God’s work in his new music video for “God’s Plan,” and it has the in- ternet all in their feelings.
The Toronto rapper took generosity to a new level by giving away his entire music video budget to Black and brown residents in Miami. The price tag for such a chari- table gesture? Nearly $1 mil- lion.
“The budget for this video was $996,631. 90,” the open- ing credits for the video says. “We gave it all away. Don’t tell the label.”
From buying groceries for an entire supermarket to liter- ally handing out bands of cash to lucky recipients, the hip- hop star brought smiles and tears of joy to those he felt needed it the most.
What’s more, Drake also
handed the city’s fire depart- ment a $20,000 check, and even gave away two cars to two very lucky young people. The most touching part is see- ing the rapper give cash to several families with young children, who are very visibly overcome with emotion.
All we can say is God bless Drake for doing his part in God’s plan: spreading a little love and light.
Funding Art Studio At Youth Center
Drake is also planning to help build a "state of the art studio" for a youth center in Miami, Florida as part of his ongoing charity endeavors.
The hitmaker toured the fa- cilities at Overtown Youth Center earlier this month while filming his "God's Plan" video.
