Genshaft To Lead Her Final Commencement Ceremonies As USF President

A Celebration of Life for Mr. Odell L. Smith will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at 1 p. m., with visita- tion one-hour prior at In- tegrity Funeral Chapel, 3822 E. 7th Avenue, Tampa, with Rev. Dr. Patricia Hauser, of- ficiating.
Mr. Odell L. Smith was born on September 8, 1938, in Lewisville, Arkansas to the late Otis Smith ad Mattie Ellis. He moved to Tampa in the early 1960s and was known as the “Picture Man” at many of Tampa’s popular night clubs.
Odell Lee Smith was called home to be with the Lord on April 23, 2019.
He leaves to cherish his fondest memories: his chil- dren, Toylander Smith and Gary Mungin; stepchildren, Edward McCall (Tasha), Eddie Mungin and Pamela Williams; siblings, Curtis Smith and Garrett Hyson; grandchildren, Phonecia Smith, Vontoria Brim and Taphonda Brown; and a host of other grand and great- grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Cynthia and Ostant Fleurant; a special thanks to special friends, Mr. and Mrs. William Ford; other friends, Tangy and Saadiq Wingfield and Joe and Tracy Easterling; and a host of the sorrowing relatives and friends.

MRS. NAOMI G. TRIGG
Mrs. Naomi G. Trigg of Tampa, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019. Funeral serv- ices will be conducted Wednesday, May 1st at 11 a. m. at Friendship Missionary Bap- tist Church, 4301 W. Cypress Street, with Reverend Frank Watson, officiating. Inter- ment will follow in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Naomi G. Trigg was a native of Fort Valley, Georgia and a resident of Tampa for over 70 years. She was edu- cated by the public schools of Hillsborough County and was a member of Friendship M. B. Church. Mrs. Trigg retired from the School District of Hillsborough County.
She was preceded in death by: her loving husband, John C. Trigg, Sr.; her parents, Nathan and Florine Gillespie; and siblings, Charlie King, Johnny King, Nathaniel Gille- spie, Harold Gillespie, Alice Ross and Alma Girdner.
Naomi leaves to cherish her memory: her loving chil- dren, Marion (Yolanda) Trigg, Gregory (Bridgette) Trigg, John C. Trigg, Jr., Avilla (Steve) Williams, Charles (Te- nille) Trigg, Nathan (Mylinda) Trigg, Eric (Katrenia) Trigg, Sr.; two grandchildren she raised, Kelvin (Stephanie) De- bose and Eric Trigg, Jr.; sib- lings, Thelma Turner, Ronald Gillespie and Sandra Sneed; devoted friends, Myrtha Lyons, Yvonne Waters, and Maxine Hearn; a host of grandchildren, great grand- children, nieces, nephews, other sorrowing relatives, friends and neighbors.
The remains will repose from 5:30 p. m. to 7 p. m. Tuesday, April 30th, at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue.

University of South Florida System President Judy Gen- shaft will lead her final com- mencement exercises during ceremonies held May 2-6 in Tampa, St. Petersburg and Sara- sota-Manatee.
Commencement ceremonies will be held o each of those days at9a. m.,1:30p.m.,and6p.m.
Over the course of Gen- shaft’s 19-year tenure, she has conferred more than 210,000 degrees and the total number of USF alumni has doubled.

With approximately 7,500 degrees expected to be con- ferred, the spring 2019 class rep- resents the largest in USF System history. The class fea- tures graduates from 50 states, 109 nations and 57 students with a cumulative 4.0 GPA.
The youngest graduate is Drew Falkowitz, 16, who will earn a bachelor’s in cell and mo- lecular biology from USF Tampa. According to university records, Falkowitz is the youngest person to graduate from USF since the institution was founded in 1956. The oldest graduate in the class is Janet Wells, 66, who will earn a bach- elor’s in professional and techni- cal communication from USF Sarasota-Manatee.
The ceremonies will also fea- ture a group of distinguished honorees who have made signif- icant contributions to USF, the Tampa Bay region or their aca-
demic fields.
At Thursday’s ceremonies, Lynn Pasquerella will receive an honorary doctorate in hu- manities. Will Weath- erford will receive the President’s Fellow Medal- lion. Chennupati Ja- gadish will receive the President’s Global Leadership Award. Audrey Heimler will receive an honorary doctorate in public health. David Eddy will receive the President’s Fellow Medallion.
During Friday’s ceremonies, Jerry and Ruth Bell will re- ceive the President’s Distin- guished Citizen Award on May 3rd during the 9 a. m. ceremony. Joe Lopano will receive the President’s Global Leadership Award.
Pamela Muma will receive an honorary doctorate in busi- ness administration. Richard Gonzmart will receive the President’s Distinguished Citi- zen Award.
During Saturday’s cere- monies, Jeff Vinik will receive the President’s Fellow Medal- lion. Jose Valiente will receive the President’s Distinguished Citizen Award; and Doretha Edgecomb will receive the President’s Distinguished Citi- zen Award.
Lyle Schwartz will receive the President’s Fellow Medal- lion. David Mearns will re- ceive the President’s Global Leadership Award.
During the College of Medi- cine Commencement on May 10th, 2:30 p. m., at Mahaffey Theater, Harlan Krumholtz will receive an hon- orary doctorate in medicine.
