MINISTER EUGENE GARRISON
Minister Eugene Garrison of Tampa, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. Graveside Memorial Services for Minister Garrison will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022, 10:30 a.m. at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida, 33513, with Pastor Greg Anderson, officiating. MASKS RECOMMENDED.
Minister Garrison was a na- tive of Miami, Florida, and a resident of Tampa for 35 years. He attended Miami Northwest- ern Senior High School and was a member of MacDill Air Force Base Chapel. He retired as an Administrator at US- CENTCOM.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Judy Garri- son; sons, Sean Garrison (Jackie), Eugene Garrison, Jr. (Keisha), Kyle Garrison (Lynece); daughter, Fatima Mickey (Paul); two sisters, Gwendolyn Ham (Louis), and Sallie Wilcox; sister-in-law, Barbara Taluy and Theresa Sawyer; grandchildren, Mar- Quise Mickey (Jazmine), Raven Garrison, Amonye Ausberry, Kadence Garrison, and Kalex Garrison; great grand, Mars Mickey; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

MS. MERCEDES CLAYTON BOLDEN POLITE
Ms. Mercedes Clayton Bolden Polite of Tampa, Florida, passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2021. A Celebration of her Life and Legacy will be held on Satur- day, January 15, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at the Allen Temple A.M.E. Church, 2101 Lowe Street, Tampa, Florida, 33605, with Apostle Thomas Hadden and Apostle Robert Douglas, officiat- ing. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Please follow the CDC Guidelines. MASKS REQUIRED.
Mercedes was born to Harri- son and Rosa Lee Clayton in San- ford, Florida, but became a resident of Tampa at an early age. She attended schools in the Hills- borough County Public Schools System.
She married the late Nathaniel Bolden, Sr., in 1947 and to this union seven children were born. Later in life she married again (Bobby), and shortly there- after, became a widow. Mercedes was very active in church until ill- ness kept her from participating. She loved and served her church family effortlessly, as she would her own family. Mercedes played the keyboard and directed the Children’s Choir at Miracle Tem- ple COGIC. She served on the Mis- sionary Board and spoke at various church functions. She loved working in the Young Peo- ple Willing Worker (YPWW) and Sunday School ministries. She was a member of the Citywide Mission Prayer Band and musi- cian for the community choir at Ella Encore Senior Center in Tampa.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Deacon Harrison Clayton, Sr., and Mother Rosa Lee Clayton; husband, Robert Polite; all of her siblings; and two chil- dren, Reginald Bolden and Brenda Hines.
She leaves to cherish loving

Prentice Kino Shellman was born on July 27, 1967, in Tampa. He attended Plant High School and graduated in 1986. In his younger years, he worked a sum- mer job at the Ybor Boys and Girls Club, where he enjoyed mentoring children. He also played youth football for the West Tampa Spartans — the greatest to ever do it.
Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. After being honorably discharged in 1991, he attended Paul Quinn Col- lege in Dallas, Texas and gradu- ated in 1996. While matriculating at Paul Quinn College, he became a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. He relocated to Louisiana and was a Deputy Sheriff with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Department.
Years later, he relocated to Tampa, and became a Police Offi- cer with the Tampa Police De- partment.
