Plant City Shooting Leaves Man Dead
Springhead Park in Plant City was the site of a deadly shooting last Friday night.
Man Arrested On Grand Theft Charge

Detectives have arrested a man and charged him in con- nection with a theft from a department store. He was re- portedly identified in a sur- veillance photograph.
According to police, two Black men entered the Wal- mart, 4928 Highway 674, in Wimauma, just before 7 p.m., on January 22nd.
While in the store, the men selected three flat screen televisions and left the store without paying for them. The televisions were valued at $1,221.82.
Police said the two men left the store in a silver 2017 Hyundai Sonata.
As a result of their investi- gation, detectives have identi- fied one of the men as 27-year-old Jerry Garrett. Garrett was charged with 3 counts of grand theft and pos- session of marijuana.
Police are still attempting to identify the second man. The investigation is continu- ing.
Armed Man Climbs
Detectives are currently investigating a shooting that left one man dead. The shoot- ing took place Friday night.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to Springhead Park, 3410 Ne- smith Road, shortly before 10 p.m., in response to a 9-1-1 call of gunfire. When they ar- rived at the scene, they dis- covered an unidentified man had been shot. He was trans- ported to Lakeland Regional
Health, where he later died as a result of his injuries.
No arrests have been made in the case. However, detectives are in the process of interviewing possible wit- nesses to the shooting. Detec- tives do not believe it was a random incident.

Police arrested a 59-year- old man in connection with an attempted armed robbery. The incident took place on January 23rd.
According to police, the victim was at the Regions Bank, 10109 W. Hillsborough Avenue. The man ap- proached the woman as she was sitting in the driver’s seat at the ATM and demanded money. The man brandished a 4 inch knife.
The victim refused to give him any money. He then leaned into the open driver’s window and demanded that she give him her car. Again, the woman refused.
The suspect then crawled over the victim into the car and maneuvered himself onto the passenger’s side of the vehicle.
Once inside the vehicle, he removed the keys from the ignition while waving the knife at the victim. The vic- tim regained control of the car keys and began struggling with the man over the knife.

At some point during the struggle, the man grabbed $1 and fled the scene. The vic- tim suffered lacerations to her right hand and fingers.
The suspect was located in the area of Osborne Av- enue and 17th Street and taken into custody. He was identified as Jerome Marciniak. He was charged with armed burglary with a deadly weapon, armed bur- glary of a vehicle with bat- tery, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Police Search For Gun Stolen From Vehicle
VEHICLE BURGLARY SUSPECTS
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is attempting to identify two men involved in a vehicle burglary. The burglary took place over the weekend.
According to police a white

or Hispanic man, both be-
tween the ages of 16 and 21,
are accused of entering a 2006
Ford F-150 through an un-
locked door. The vehicle was
parked at 5658 Tughill Drive,
around 2:30 a.m., on January 22nd.
Once inside, the suspect is
said to have removed a Ruger .40 caliber handgun from the vehicle.
Another suspect is ob- served attempting to gain entry into a second vehicle. However, the passenger door was locked. They were ob- served walking away from the scene.
