    Live In The Black
Empowered Greet- ings. Plan to live in the black as you embark on the
New Year. Financially speak- ing, the term in the “black,” means to being profitable. It refers to having a positive balance in your account after all your expenses have been paid.
Let’s take a moment to focus in on the words posi- tive and profitable. When something is positive, it’s fa- vorable and has a good effect. When something is prof- itable it is useful, beneficial and yields an advantageous return. This year I am going to challenge you to live in the black as it relates to your family, friends, faith, fi- nances, fitness and fun filled endeavors.
Everything and everyone connected to you should cause you to experience a positive outcome. Wherever and with whomever you are investing your time, energy and resources with, should yield an advantageous or profitable result for you. This is living in the black.
Anything or anyone that
causes you to repeatedly take a loss, expose you to the neg- ative side of things or experi- ence a deficit puts you in the red. In the red means you don’t have enough to get by. You are putting out more than you are getting in.
You are being depleted physically, mentally, emo- tionally, financially, spiritu- ally and socially. Whenever you operate in the red, in any area of your life, you must evaluate the situation and make the necessary adjust- ments to get you back in the black.
Although it may be diffi- cult, if you’re going to make it, it may be necessary for you to cut your losses. This will reposition you to win and stay in the black.
To live in the black, you must keep a flow of positive people around you. Continu- ously grow spiritually to maintain a favorable per- spective when times get rough. Be a good manager of your money to encounter fi- nancial success.
Stay fit so you can enjoy life to the fullest. Remember,
when you are profiting finan- cially and have a positive bal- ance in your mind, body and soul, you are truly empow- ered to live in the black.

     Nine Resolutions For Our Community
nd what shall we advise our readers, this New
Year, many who have followed us for the past 45 years, through good times, hard times, and times that could have gone either way? Sit down and listen. We’ll tell you.
Loyal readers of Black Tampa-Hillsborough County, resolve that not one who lives with you or lives in the sound of your voice will you allow not to have registered to vote for upcoming elections.
If anyone has registered to vote, but claims not to have a way to get to the polls, resolve to make yourself and your car available to get the job done.
Furthermore, if you currently, have school-aged children living at home, resolve yourself in 2019 to play a major role in their school progress by attending PTA meetings regularly.
Resolve, this year that if you have children partic- ipating in extracurricular activities that you will re- work your schedule so you can attend at least some of their events.
Resolve to let people know you love them by word as well as by deed. Think twice before delivering a sharp and hurtful response.
During this year of political campaigning, resolve not to carry grudges if the person you support doesn’t win.
Resolve to go to church at least twice a month, and if you attend church, tithe on a regular basis. (Re- member, what you send out, you in time will receive).
Resolve to save at least a dime of every dollar. In addition, resolve this New Year to show the world how kind, thoughtful, and considerate you can be.
Whether Republican, Democrat or Independent . . . whether Black, white or Latino . . . whether straight or gay, resolve to make this year a greater year than the year preceding it.
Finally, for the City of Tampa, resolve to fix our streets that are now beset by countless potholes...
If you’ll do half of what we advise, no doubt 2019 will be a year of miracle and revival, especially in Tampa-Hillsborough County.
