Deadly Shooting Suspect Caught In Lake City

Police have arrested a man sought in connection with a deadly shooting. The incident took place in the parking lot of a liquor store last Wednesday.

covering from his wounds. Detectives investigating the case arrested 24-year-old Eric J. Smith in Lake City (Columbia County), Florida, early Monday. He was charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-de-
gree murder, and robbery. The names of the victims
were not released.
Police are currently look- ing for a man in connection with a shooting. The incident took place at Rowlett Park.
According to police, the incident took place Sunday evening, around 7:30 p.m. The two children were playing in the children’s area. The suspect approached the vic- tim about the victim’s son hit- ting his son.
A verbal argument took place between the two men. The quarrel then led to the two men talking about fight- ing, police said.
The suspect is alleged to have reached into his waist band and pulled a semi-auto- matic firearm. The victim saw
the gun and turned to run away from the suspect.
The victim heard gunshots and realized he had been struck by gunfire in his lower body. The victim’s girlfriend drove him to a local hospital. He was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
After the shooting, the suspect then fled the scene. He is described as a Black man, approximately 5/10” and about 29 years of age. He weighs about 180 pounds and has a dark complexion.

Morning Shooting
Early Saturday morning, an unidentified suspect shot and robbed another individ- ual. The incident took place in Ybor City.
According to the Tampa Police Department, the victim is one of the sales clerks at the 7-11 Store, 1535 E. 7th Avenue. Just before the shooting, the victim was advised by a co-worker that the suspect just walked out with two packs of cigarettes without paying for them.
The victim gave chase and followed the suspect who fled on bicycle. The victim caught up with the suspect in front of 1600 E. 8th Ave., where a confrontation ensued.
The victim was shot by the suspect, and was trans- ported to a local hospital for treatment. The victim suf- fered non-life threatening in- juries. The shooting took place around 5:30 a.m.

The suspect fled the scene in an unknown make and model bicycle with white writ- ing on it and a mounted light in between the handle bars.
Police are following sev- eral leads and the investiga- tion is continuing.
Tampa Police are investi- gating the death of an East Tampa man. His body was found inside a house last week.
According to police, offi- cers responded to 3405 E. Powhatan Avenue, shortly after 4 p.m., last Thursday. When they arrived, they were advised that a dead man was inside the house.
Initially, it was unclear how long the man had been dead in the house, what caused his death, or whether foul play was suspected.
However, police said the investigation has revealed that the 60-year-old uniden- tified man died as a result of upper body trauma. Investi- gators don’t believe it was a random act and the man’s next of kin has been notified.
The death has been ruled a murder and the investigation is continuing.
