Suspect Surrenders In
Warren Sapp To Coach High School Prep Stars At Combine
WARREN SAPP
NFL Hall of Famer Warren Sapp will get to coach High School prep stars at a combine in Hollywood, FL.
The conversation the people behind the high school football combine in Florida talked about his arrest for 2 violent crimes, ultimately decided Sapp deserves a chance.
Sapp will be hosting the Showcase Combine next week- end — coaching and mentoring promising prep football players who want to play college foot- ball.
Event organizers claimed they were hesitant to bring Sapp on board at first consid- ering he was convicted in two separate violent incidents in 2015.
But after spending time with Sapp, organizers decided he deserves an opportunity to prove he’s a changed man.
Jerome Harriot, the com- bine honcho, says he truly be- lieves Sapp can have a positive impact on the kids — “He’s a great coach. He can definitely put children on the right ath- letic and educational track.”
As for Sapp, Harriot says he is “very excited and passion- ate about this.”
Klay Thompson Burns Nets, Curry On Way To 3-Point Contest Crown
KLAY THOMPSON And STEPHON CURRY
TORONTO — Klay Thompson did what few teams have done this season.
He beat Stephen Curry.
The 3-point contest title was passed along from one “Splash Brother” to another, as Thompson beat his Golden State Warriors teammate and the defending champion with a dazzling display on NBA All- Star Saturday night. Thomp- son finished the final round with 27 points, four more than Curry managed as, once again, the title came down to the two Golden State sharpshooters.
Phoenix’s Devin Booker was third, with 16 points in the final round. He beat the Rock- ets’ James Harden and J.J. Redick of the Los Angeles Clippers to get out of the first round, while the Raptors’ Kyle Lowry, Trail Blazers’ C.J. Mc- Collum and Bucks’Khris Middleton were eliminated early.

Shooting Of B-CU Player
DON’KEVIOUS JOHNSON ... shooting victim
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - A 23-year-old suspect ac- cused of shooting three Bethune-Cookman University students, killing one of them, has turned himself in to po- lice, according to Police Chief Mike Chitwood.
The shooting happened just after 1 a.m. Saturday at the Indigo Lakes Golf Club in Daytona Beach.
“It’s a little close to home to have a shooting in your neighborhood,” said Rodney Logan.
Lamont “Cornbread” Postell, Jr. is wanted for murder in the fatal shooting of Bethune-Cookman football player Don’Kevious John- son.
Police say Lamont Postell Jr., 23, who also goes by “Cornbread,” shot the students after a fight broke out during a party in- side the golf course’s club- house.
Chief Mike Chitwood with the Daytona Beach Po- lice Department says more than 200 students were at the party.
“It’s a typical Friday night, typical of what college kids do. I mean, they look to rent a

place to have a party and no- body expects when you’re in college, you’re going to end up like this,” said Chitwood.
Postell shot and killed Bethune-Cookman student Don’Kevious Johnson, 23, police said. According to the university’s athletic website, Johnson was listed as a line- backer on the football team.
The two other students who were shot, Justine Cunningham and Tre Jamal Williams, 21, were transported to Halifax Med- ical Center. They are expected to be OK.
“Unfortunately, you have a student who is dead and you have another fighting for her life,” said Chitwood.
Police said Cunningham is in critical condition after being shot in the head and Williams is in stable condi- tion after being shot in the back.
Investigators with the Daytona Beach Police Depart- ment were actively looking for Postell, who they say is not a student at Bethune-Cook- man. He walked into police headquarters and surren- dered at 4:50 p.m. Saturday, according to Chitwood.
Zach LaVine Wins Slam Dunk Contest In Battle With Aaron Gordon
TORONTO — Zach LaVine was fresh out of dunks, having been pushed to the limit by Aaron Gordon in an epic final round in the NBA’s slam dunk contest on Saturday night.
In need of some magic, he reached deep down into his repertoire and found just enough left for one more go.
“We were looking in our bag of tricks. Ain’t nothing left,” LaVine said. “I just found a little piece of dust.”
LaVine pulled off a be- tween-the-legs dunk from the free throw line on the second tiebreaker to take home his second straight dunk contest trophy, becoming just the fourth player — after Michael Jordan, Jason Richardson and Nate Robinson — to pull off that feat.
“I just think that was the

best contest,” LaVine said. “There was some stuff that’s never been done before. I don’t want to get into the greats — Mike, they’re in a different breath. If you really look at it as a whole, we were doing dunks that professional dunkers take four or five tries to do and we were doing it on the first try. It was ridiculous, man.”
LaVine dedicated his win to his late coach Flip Saun- ders, who died of Hodgkin’s lymphoma in October.
