Jonathan Martin Gets Permission To Leave Mental Health Facility

Malcolm Jenkins Thinks
Jonathan Martin has received permission to leave an inpatient mental health treatment facility, but the for- mer NFL offensive lineman still has to adhere to several conditions as his case plays out.
Martin was granted re- lease from a facility in Malibu after the clinical director of the facility vouched for him in court. However, a judge has ordered him to be fitted with a GPS and alcohol monitoring ankle bracelet and attend out- patient treatment for mental health five days a week. Mar- tin is also prohibited from going near the Harvard-West- lake school in Los Angeles and the Miami Dolphins organiza- tion due to the threats he was arrested for back in February.

Dez Bryant
Malcolm Jenkins sus- pects that police may be mak- ing an example of Michael Bennett.
Jenkins, a defensive leader for the Philadelphia Eagles, spoke to reporters at the team’s facility on Tuesday and was asked about Ben- nett’s latest legal issue.
Bennett was acquired by the Eagles in a trade with the Seahawks last month. Shortly thereafter, the defensive line- man was indicted on a felony charge in Texas for allegedly injuring a 66-year-old para- plegic while attending the Super Bowl last year to watch his brother’s Patriots.
Like Jenkins, Bennett is active when it comes to so- cial matters, which is partly

DEZ BRYANT
The Dallas Cowboys’ deci- sion to release Dez Bryant last week was expected by many, but it caught one fran- chise legend by surprise.
Emmitt Smith said on Tuesday that he was “a little surprised” by Bryant’s re- lease.
There was some thought that locker room issues were part of the reason for Bryant’s release. Jason Witten dis- missed that talk and says there are no locker room issues.
One Cowboys receiver hinted at a potential reason for Bryant’s release, implying that being outspoken was not a good thing.
Broncos Releasing CJ Anderson
CJ ANDERSON
CJ Anderson rushed for over 1,000 yards last season and had one of the best years of his career, but it was not enough to convince the Denver Broncos that they need him going forward.
The Broncos are releasing Anderson. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network notes that they tried to trade the veteran back before cutting ties with him.
Anderson, who turned 27 in February, was set to make $4.5 million in 2018, which is a lot for a back who has never really been able to handle a feature role. While Ander- son’s commitment to recruit- ing for the Broncos made it seem like he wanted to return, his production can probably be replaced in the draft and/or with cheaper options in free agency.

Deondre Francois
Former West Virginia star quarterback Pat White looks like he will be getting into the college coaching game.
White is expected to be named the quarterbacks coach for Alcorn State this week.
White went 35-8 as a starting quarterback for West Virginia from 2005-2008. He went 4-0 in bowl games and holds numerous West Virginia school records as a dual-threat
QB.

year-old Ala- bama native was drafted in the second round by the Dolphins in 2009. His NFL career
Investigated Over Tip That
He Was Selling Marijuana
PAT WHITE
Deondre Francois has found himself in some legal trouble after police investi- gated a tip they received that the Florida State quarterback was selling marijuana out of his apartment in Tallahassee.
According to a search warrant obtained by the Or- lando Sentinel, Tallahassee police received a tip from an anonymous male who said he was inside Francois’s apart- ment in February and saw a large bag full of marijuana, which was estimated by po- lice to be about two pounds. Investigators got a warrant to search through Francois’s garbage on four separate oc- casions, and they believed the evidence supported the claim that Francois was involved with criminal activity.
Among the contents TPD found in Francois’ garbage and during their Thursday apartment search: multiple plastic bags with cannabis residue, innards of blunt ci- gars, a Bob Marley grinder, an instant drug test cup, three vials of pain medica- tion, two iPads with broken screens, three iPhones and an FSU student ID card for run- ning back Zaquandre White. A Leon County judge approved the eight-page search warrant on April 6.

of Francois’s apartment last Thursday and found 17 grams of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia near his bed. The 21-year-old claimed the drugs belonged to his girl- friend Diamond Lindsey, who was in the apartment at the time, and told police he “can’t smoke right now.” He claimed the last time he used marijuana was in December.
Francois was not ar- rested and instead was of- fered the chance to participate in a pre-trial di- version program, which in- volves community service and probation for anywhere from three months to a year. He could also be asked to participate in a substance abuse program. Florida State head coach Willie Taggart said Francois is “still with our football team” and that he hopes the QB can make better choices going forward.
